Emergency arrest of bus driver, bus staff and shipper fighting in downtown Ho Chi Minh City

On December 13, the Investigation Police Agency of District 3, Ho Chi Minh City urgently arrested Vo Thanh Bang (born in 1963, from Bac Lieu, residing in An Lac ward, Binh Tan district), Pham Duy Nien (born in 2004, residing in Quy Duc commune, Binh Chanh district) and Le Minh Hien (born in 1987, residing in Tra Vinh ) to investigate the act of "Disturbing public order".

Initial information, on December 11, a video recording the scuffle between the driver and the bus attendant of bus route 14 (Eastern Bus Station - 3/2 - Western Bus Station) with a delivery staff at 60 Vo Van Tan, Vo Thi Sau Ward, District 3 was spread on social networks. The incident quickly attracted attention because it occurred in the city center, affecting security and order in the area.

According to the investigation, at around 1:30 p.m. on December 10, Le Minh Hien was driving a motorbike on Vo Van Tan Street. When he reached the intersection of Vo Van Tan and Le Quy Don, Hien thought that bus No. 14 driven by Vo Thanh Bang had forced his way, causing the vehicle to swerve. Angry, Hien chased after the bus, overtook it, and blocked the bus, then cursed and banged on the bus door.

Immediately after, driver Vo Thanh Bang got out of the car, holding an iron bar. Le Minh Hien rushed in, grabbed Bang's hand, and pushed him into a car parked on the side of the road. Meanwhile, bus employee Pham Duy Nien kicked Hien in the back, causing him to fall onto the road. The three then continued to fight and scuffle. The incident was stopped by the people, after which all three left the scene.

During the investigation, the police found a 65 cm long iron bar on the bus - which the driver said was a tool used to turn the jack when repairing the bus and admitted to using it to beat Hien.

Vo Thi Sau Ward People's Committee said that the fight occurred in a crowded area, near the War Remnants Museum, where many tourists gather, seriously affecting security and order.

Although all three people refused to have their injuries assessed and did not request criminal prosecution, the District 3 Police Department still decided to make emergency arrests to investigate and clarify, emphasizing the need to handle them strictly to deter and ensure security and order in the area.

Regarding the above incident, on December 11, the City Transport Cooperative Union (operating unit of bus route number 14) suspended driver Vo Thanh Bang and male employee Pham Duy Nien.
