In recent days, the story of the family of teacher Khuong Van Hung, former Principal of Nghia Tan High School (Quy Nhat commune, Ninh Binh province) donating 1 billion VND to help households that suffered heavy damage after the terrible storm that occurred in the early morning of September 29 has moved many people.

Mr. Hung shared that the 1 billion VND donation was not just from him and his wife, but from the wholeheartedness of his children in the family. Witnessing the destruction of his hometown's houses after the storm, Mr. Hung could not help but feel heartbroken. Immediately, he discussed with his wife and children to promptly support the affected households.

“My wife and I are retired teachers, and our four sons all live far away. After the storm, seeing how much damage people suffered, I thought I had to help them immediately. So my wife and I took part of our pension savings and called on our children to join us. When I mentioned the support, they all agreed,” said Mr. Hung.

Teacher Hung confided that his family had also gone through days of poverty, lacking in every way, having to eat rice mixed with cassava. At that time, the teacher's salary was not enough to support 4 children, so in addition to class time, the couple had to raise pigs, grow rice, and sell vegetables at the market to have money to pay for their children's education.

Having overcome hardship, his family has always understood and sympathized with difficult situations. Now, his four children are all successful, financially stable, and their hearts are always turned towards their homeland. Therefore, when he called to share about the damage suffered by his people after the storm, his children were all ready to lend a helping hand without hesitation.

Just one day after the storm, Mr. Hung collected his savings from his wife's pension, along with the money his children sent home, and brought it directly to the People's Committee of Quy Nhat commune, handing it to the local government representative to promptly support families who suffered damage to people and property.

“My family helps people in need from the heart. We just hope that our fellow countrymen can soon rebuild their homes and stabilize their lives. That makes me feel satisfied,” Mr. Hung shared.

Mr. Khuong Van Son (born 1978), Mr. Hung's nephew, said that this is not the first time his family has donated a large sum of money.

Over the years, Mr. Hung's family has always actively participated in charity activities, helping many difficult situations, and supporting the construction of pagodas, schools, and showing gratitude to wounded soldiers and martyrs... Not only showing love for his homeland, his family has also joined hands many times to support people in other localities when facing natural disasters and calamities.

“My uncle, aunt and children are all kind-hearted people, always caring for their relatives. They not only encourage them mentally, but are also willing to support them materially. If any of them are sick or in difficulty, we wholeheartedly visit and help them.

Not only do they care about their families, they also always look back to their homeland. Over the years, they have quietly contributed and supported many meaningful activities in the locality with a considerable amount of money but have never shown off their generosity,” Mr. Son shared.

According to the leader of Quy Nhat Commune People's Committee, the support from the family of teacher Khuong Van Hung has special meaning in the context that many local households are suffering heavy losses in terms of lives and property after the terrible storm that occurred in the early morning of September 29.

The local government and people are very appreciative and grateful for the noble gesture of teacher Khuong Van Hung's family. This support not only helps people ease their difficulties but also spreads the spirit of solidarity and mutual love in the community.
