Deputy Minister Le Xuan Dinh delivered the opening speech at the Conference.
Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh said that in the context of strong development of science and technology, measurement techniques are increasingly proving their essential role, making important contributions to key economic sectors such as energy, electronics, telecommunications and civil fields such as health and environment. With a tradition of more than 40 years, the conference, held every 5 years, has become a prestigious scientific forum to summarize and orient the development of the measurement industry, in which the period 2020-2025 marked many important achievements, notably the development of the national measurement standards system and successful participation in international comparison programs.
According to Deputy Minister Le Xuan Dinh, the role of measurement is increasingly evident through the Government 's policies, typically Project 996/QD-TTg on strengthening and innovating measurement activities to support businesses in improving their competitiveness and international integration by 2025, with a vision to 2030.
Ms. Ngo Thi Ngoc Ha - Director of Vietnam Metrology Institute announced the results of excellent scientific reports at 6 Content Subcommittees.
Reporting at the Conference, Ms. Ngo Thi Ngoc Ha, Director of the Vietnam Metrology Institute, said that the Organizing Committee had received 124 scientific reports. After serious criticism, the Organizing Committee selected 109 reports to be published in the proceedings with a total capacity of nearly 850 pages. The quality of this year's reports is superior to previous ones, especially in terms of technology and practical application. The composition of authors is also more diverse, gathering from universities, research institutes, agencies inside and outside the military, with the participation of international scientists, showing the increasingly widespread influence of the conference.
Ceremony to honor outstanding reports.
At the Conference, delegates discussed in 6 specialized subcommittees, focusing on issues from basic to advanced such as optical-mechanical measurement, electricity-electronics, heat, physical chemistry and control. Many typical papers were presented, including research on applying machine vision and artificial intelligence to upgrade industrial robots.
Chairman of the National Committee for Standards, Metrology and Quality Nguyen Nam Hai.
Concluding the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai, Chairman of the National Committee for Standards, Metrology and Quality, emphasized that the world metrology industry is entering a new development phase with three strategic pillars identified by international organizations (BIPM, EURAMET, APMP) until 2030 and beyond.
Firstly, digital transformation in measurement with a focus on building a reliable, automatic and safe digital measurement infrastructure, in which developing Digital Calibration Certificates (DCC) is an important step. Vietnam needs to soon build a digital transformation roadmap, focusing on piloting DCC to integrate into international trends.
Second, metrology serves global challenges, providing accurate measurements for essential areas such as climate change response, healthcare, food safety and clean energy.
Third, metrology for advanced industries, meeting the increasing demands for accuracy and speed in areas such as the semiconductor industry, additive manufacturing (3D printing) and quantum technology.
Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai affirmed that international metrology development orientations all focus on digital innovation, solving social challenges and supporting advanced industries. Vietnam needs to proactively build a digital transformation roadmap in metrology, identify national priority areas, and strengthen ties with key industries to improve metrology capacity, meet sustainable development requirements and enhance competitiveness in the new era.
Overview of the Conference.
The 8th Conference is not only an opportunity to look back on the past but also opens up new development directions, contributing to bringing Vietnamese measurement to keep up with international trends, practically serving the cause of industrialization, modernization and national digital transformation.
