According to the Free Press Journal, the horrific incident shocked the entire residential area in Hunan, China, on September 16. At that time, the girl accidentally slipped out of the window of an apartment on the 20th floor of the apartment building but luckily she landed on the rain cover on the 13th floor.

Hearing the noise, Ms. Wu, a resident living on the 14th floor, rushed to the balcony and discovered the child in a dangerous situation.

The local government praised Ms. Wu for her quick thinking and bravery, awarding her a certificate of merit and 5,000 yuan. However, Ms. Wu refused to accept the reward, saying that she only did what any person should do.

Authorities call on people to ensure safety around windows and balconies to avoid unfortunate accidents.
