Ministry of Education and Training requests to handle teacher who assaulted colleague

On October 9, the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province informed that the Department of Teachers and Educational Managers, Ministry of Education and Training has directed the inspection, verification and reporting of the incident in which a teacher in the province was assaulted by a colleague right in the school yard.

The document clearly stated that the incident in which a math teacher at Vo Nguyen Giap High School (Ea O commune, Dak Lak province) assaulted another teacher right in the school yard was a serious violation of regulations on teachers' ethics, negatively affecting the pedagogical environment. The Ministry of Education and Training requested the Department of Education and Training of Dak Lak province to urgently inspect and clarify the developments of the incident, the responsibilities of the relevant collectives and individuals, and handling measures before October 14.

Previously, at around 7:10 a.m. on October 3, while performing the task of checking student discipline and supervising order as assigned by the Board of Directors of Vo Nguyen Giap High School, Mr. Nguyen Truc Sinh, Secretary of the School Youth Union, reminded Mr. Dang Tang, a Math teacher, about parking his motorbike in the wrong place in the school yard. Instead of cooperating, Mr. Dang Tang reacted harshly, using threatening words and squeezing Mr. Nguyen Truc Sinh's neck twice in front of the security guard and a number of students.

The incident left Mr. Nguyen Truc Sinh with neck injuries, causing confusion, fear, and affecting his psychology and teaching. The incident also caused psychological shock to the students who witnessed it, seriously affecting the safe and healthy educational environment at the school.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Principal of Vo Nguyen Giap High School, said that while performing his teaching and meeting duties at school, Mr. Dang Tang always had aggressive behavior, gestures, and attitudes, looked down on students, and left meetings without permission. Vo Nguyen Giap High School requested that the Provincial Department of Education and Training consider and handle the case, conduct an investigation, and verify Mr. Dang Tang's intentional acts of causing injury and disturbing public order.

According to VNA reporters, before the incident, Mr. Dang Tang had received disciplinary decisions many times. In January 2024 and January 2025, Mr. Dang Tang received two consecutive disciplinary decisions in the form of "Reprimand" and "Warning" for violating teachers' ethics, violating the body, and insulting the honor and dignity of students.
