Ministry of Finance: Prices of goods near Tet have no unusual fluctuations

The Ministry of Finance recommends that ministries, branches and localities continue to closely monitor the supply and demand developments and market prices of goods under their management, especially essential goods that directly serve the needs of people during the Lunar New Year 2025, to proactively develop plans to ensure a balance of goods to meet people's consumption needs, stabilize the market, and avoid shortages, disruptions in supply, and sudden price increases. Production and business establishments strictly implement price posting to ensure consumers feel secure when making purchases.

Based on reports from a number of localities and information on market prices from the Ministry of Finance (Price Management Department), the market on January 26 (ie the 27th day of Tet) basically had no unusual fluctuations in prices of essential consumer goods. Prices of some livestock, poultry, vegetables, flowers for Tet display, and fruits increased slightly at traditional markets; prices of essential goods were stable at supermarkets and shopping centers. The supply of goods was abundant, diverse, and had many designs to meet people's shopping needs. Shopping activities on the 27th day of Tet focused mainly on a number of items such as fruits, vegetables, fresh foods, confectionery, beer, and carbonated soft drinks...

In Hanoi City, fresh food and foodstuffs: Prices of foodstuffs and vegetables on January 26, 2025 (ie the 27th day of Tet) basically did not fluctuate much. Tet goods at supermarkets and traditional markets are abundant, prices of goods are relatively stable, specifically: grade 1 green beans: 55,000 VND/kg; wood ear mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms prices fluctuate depending on each type: wood ear mushrooms price is around 210,000 VND/kg - 230,000 VND/kg, shiitake mushrooms price is around 230,000 VND - 300,000 VND/kg; dried bamboo shoots 280,000 VND/kg...

Fruits for display during Tet such as kumquats, tangerines, dragon fruit, Hoa Loc mango, star apple... increased slightly compared to normal days. The prices of some fruit items on the 27th day of the Lunar New Year are: dragon fruit 60,000-75,000 VND/kg; sand mango 50,000-60,000 VND/kg; kumquats 50,000-70,000 VND/kg; pomelos 20,000-35,000 VND/kg... green bananas range from 100,000-250,000 VND/bunch, depending on the location.

Prices of some alcohol, beer and soft drinks for Lunar New Year on the 26th day of the lunar calendar have not changed compared to a few days ago.

In Ho Chi Minh City, from the afternoon of January 25 to the morning of January 26 (December 27), the Tet shopping situation was still bustling. The source of goods for Tet was abundant, complete, and diverse, ensuring the shopping needs of the people. Stabilization enterprises, distribution systems, and supermarkets committed to ensuring an increase in the supply of goods for the Lunar New Year, ensuring stable prices, without price increases before, during, and after the Lunar New Year, especially for essential food items to serve the needs of the people. The price situation at markets, supermarkets, shopping centers, and convenience stores was stable, with no price increases. Supermarket and retail systems also increased sales hours to serve the shopping needs of the people.

The Price Management Department stated that the selling prices of most items are stable, except for some Tet items at traditional markets such as pork, vegetables, flowers for Tet, fruits, etc., which fluctuated insignificantly (less than 10%) because supermarket systems increased promotional programs. At the same time, this year, the shopping trend shifted from traditional markets to supermarkets, so purchasing power at traditional markets increased by 5-10%.

In Da Nang, Hai Phong and Can Tho cities, it is noted that the situation of goods serving the Lunar New Year 2025 in localities is diverse in types and designs, the prices of goods in the area are relatively stable, there are no cases of unusual price increases due to hoarding and lack of supply.
