Weekend Coffee: Meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival Gifts

Last Sunday, the musical “Tangled” premiered in Hanoi. This is an art work within the framework of the project “Academy of Arts - Happiness is Called” implemented by a number of units with the support of the United Nations Children's Fund in Vietnam.

The project aims to create access to art for all children, spreading the message "For all children, equal opportunities", regardless of their background, conditions, or living circumstances.

“Tangled” is performed by a group of Vietnamese artists under the direction of the general director, Meritorious Artist Cao Ngoc Anh. This interactive play is based on a Vietnamese script, suggestions from a charity project for children with cancer, and takes advantage of new arrangements of familiar Vietnamese songs for children. There, viewers can follow the journey of a little girl overcoming difficulties to share and help those around her. It is not only an emotional fairy tale told through music , but also an open art space for both adults and especially children to come together, sing their dreams and ambitions. In other words, “Tangled” and the following art products of the project “Academy of Arts - Happiness is Called” provide the necessary touchpoints for children to have the opportunity to access art. They must first come to art, then from those touchpoints they can get acquainted, understand, love, participate, and create...

In Vietnam, art projects for children are being implemented more and more, more diversely, more practically. The products within the framework of art projects are carefully invested, high quality, belonging to many art forms, not just simple singing and dancing performances on stage. Hopefully, on the occasion of this year's Mid-Autumn Festival, when "Tangled" is performed, Vietnamese children will not only have a meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival gift but also find there the opportunity to understand more about art, about their own wishes as well as the ability to go hand in hand with art in the future.
