The final round of the 50th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace 2025 took place this morning (September 28) and is a key sporting event of Hanoi city, celebrating the 71st anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2025). At this point, professional and organizational preparations have been completed. The active preparation in all aspects of the Organizing Committee and participating units promises to bring an exciting and quality tournament.

Ready for the tournament

The Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run has a long tradition and every year the organization is renewed and improved in professionalism. Up to now, all preparations for the 50th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run Finals - For Peace 2025 have been completed. The Organizing Committee has coordinated with the Vietnam Athletics Federation to conduct measurements, the competition distances are carefully calculated, suitable for each age group and subject. The running route is standardized according to the technical regulations of professional running competitions. The Organizing Committee also applies technology to the stages of competition registration, list checking, timing and result synthesis to ensure accuracy - fairness - transparency. The tournament also has a team of professional and experienced referees, mobilized to ensure professional quality and accurate handling of situations during the competition.

Head of the Department of Sports Management (Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports) Dao Quoc Thang informed that at this year's final competition, the competition will be divided into grassroots and advanced. In which, the advanced running event is for athletes of the athletics teams of provinces and cities. Athletes will participate in the following distances: 5,250m women's open event (3 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake); 8,750m men's open event (5 laps around Hoan Kiem Lake). The new feature of this year's tournament is the addition of a competition for sponsors with a distance of 1,750m, for both men and women. This is an effort by the Organizing Committee to encourage athletes in grassroots running clubs, high-level free runners, to increase the attractiveness of the tournament.

Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper Lai Ba Ha, representative of the Organizing Committee, said that the Organizing Committee continues to cooperate with Xmax Media Joint Stock Company to support athletes to preserve memorable moments on the race track by scanning QR codes posted on the website: hanoimoi.vn.

The Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper added that water tables are set up along the running track, along with a team of volunteers ready to support the athletes. At this year's race, to ensure the safety of the athletes, the Hanoi 115 Emergency Center has arranged an emergency team, including: 2 doctors, 2 nurses and 1 driver, with full equipment and medicine to serve. In addition, the Organizing Committee also arranged a health care tent for the athletes at the finish line. In addition, the mobile emergency team is also ready to respond in case of injuries, fires, food poisoning, etc.

Actively prepare forces, aiming for high achievements

This year is the 50th year that the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace has been organized and received widespread support from the people of the capital. Preliminary statistics show that there are more than 10,000 athletes participating in the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run - For Peace 2025 at the commune and ward levels. Towards the final competition, participating units in both advanced and grassroots content have made careful preparations.

Coach Nguyen Chi Dong (Head of the Hanoi Athletics Team) said that participating in the 50th edition, the Hanoi Athletics Team sent the strongest force to compete, including many familiar faces, such as: Tran Van Dang, Duong Trung Hieu, Giang Van Dung... These are athletes who have won many gold medals at national and international competitions. Tran Van Dang alone has won the advanced men's category of the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Running Tournament for two consecutive years (2022 and 2023). The Hanoi Athletics Team aims to compete for individual medals in the men's category.

Meanwhile, athlete Tran Van Dang of the Hanoi athletics team shared: “This year, I registered to compete in the men's 8,750m open event. Although I have participated in the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Run for many years, for me every time is as nervous as competing in the national championship. Every year there are new, strong athletes participating, so I have to try my best to achieve the best results.”

According to Nguyen Thi Thuyen, Deputy Director of the Hong Son Commune Culture, Information and Sports Center, after organizing the final round of the grassroots running competition, the commune has selected 18 excellent athletes to participate in the final round of the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Running Competition at the city level. Recently, the commune team has been actively practicing. The team's coaching staff is confident in aiming for the highest results.

By the evening of September 27, athletes from 16 delegations from the following provinces and cities: Thai Nguyen, Ha Tinh, Bac Ninh, Son La, Tuyen Quang, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Hung Yen, Ho Chi Minh City, Lang Son, Hai Phong, Gia Lai, Army, Capital University, Hanoi University of Physical Education and Sports... had arrived in Hanoi. All were ready to compete, with a spirit of dedication for an exciting season.
