Director Quoc Khanh revealed that Kim Tu Long plays the role of An Duong Vuong, acting with Hong Quyen (as Mi Chau) in the excerpt of the reformed opera Mi Chau Love Story .

The story of An Duong Vuong's subjectivity and negligence in losing the magic crossbow, causing the country to fall into Trieu Da's hands, is a lesson learned through blood and tears over thousands of years.

The story has been used in reformed opera, traditional opera, drama, music and dance.

In particular, many reformed opera troupes have re-staged it, and the reformed opera talent contestants have also used it a lot, but this time with the transformation of Kim Tu Long accompanying his junior Hong Quyen, it will arouse curiosity in the audience.

The Love Story of Mi Chau is part of the musical Mong Phu Hoa , which will premiere on the night of October 26 at Ben Thanh Theater.

In addition to Kim Tu Long, Hong Quyen also sang with her senior Trong Phuc. During the press conference on the afternoon of September 19, Trong Phuc humorously said he did not know what role he would play in the show.

Because he heard that singer Xuan Hoa will play the role of the singer's husband (played by Hong Quyen) in the countryside, singer Huy Vu and actor Thanh Thuc will play the role of the lover. "As for me, I'm sure I'll play the role of the father, how can I compete with these young and handsome men?" - Trong Phuc said with a laugh.

He added that he had known Hong Quyen for a long time and liked her because in addition to her ability to sing bolero music, she also sang cải lương very well. Trọng Phúc had made several MVs with Hồng Quyen.

So when Hong Quyen invited him to participate in the show, even though he didn't know what he was doing, he immediately accepted. He added that he really liked the musical genre, and that he himself wanted to make the epic Han Mac Tu combining music and reformed opera, so participating in this musical would be considered as gaining more experience.

Hong Quyen comes from Bac Lieu , in a family with 4 generations of amateur music.

Director Quoc Khanh is no stranger to the Western region's reformed opera scene. He is both the author and director of many reformed opera plays that regularly participate in national reformed opera festivals.

At last year's National Cai Luong Festival, he staged the play Hero Nguyen Trung Truc for Vu Luan to participate in the festival. Recently, he was the assistant director of the play Han Mac Tu for Vu Luan troupe to perform at Tran Huu Trang Theater.

Quoc Khanh knew Hong Quyen when she was little in her hometown. He choreographed cai luong excerpts for her to compete in Bac Lieu and nationwide and won high prizes. However, when she grew up, Quyen turned to the path of a singer, following the music genre with folk and bolero influences.

Now meeting again, Quoc Khanh and Hong Quyen discussed and decided to do the show in musical style.

Mong Phu Hoa tells the story of a female singer in the 1960s from a poor countryside whose talent was discovered by a show producer and brought to the city to develop her career. It was a long and arduous journey for her to assert herself and maintain her passion.

Hong Quyen confided that she had to put money in her piggy bank to organize her own show, with an estimated budget of over 1 billion VND.

The play is a combination of drama, music and reformed opera.

The director emphasized that he will balance the musical and dramatic elements. The play will be a coherent story, with old songs and new songs written by musicians Son Ha and Cao Minh Thu to ensure that the music is inserted appropriately and not forced.

With this show, after the premiere on October 26, Hong Quyen will plan to take Mong Phu Hoa on tour, first in Can Tho and Bac Lieu. She also hopes to be able to take the play to the North, where show producers love her voice.
