Currently in Ho Chi Minh City, there is a situation where some individuals claiming to be representatives of law firms and consulting companies approach gold and silver trading enterprises, asking for support in applying for certificates of eligibility to produce gold jewelry and fine arts.
These entities require businesses to pay a large “brokerage” fee for the procedures. Meanwhile, the procedures for applying for a certificate of eligibility to produce gold jewelry and fine art jewelry are administrative procedures that are carried out publicly and completely free of charge.
This procedure is shared publicly at the State Bank branch (No. 8 Vo Van Kiet Street, District 1, HCMC) and only requires businesses to meet the conditions prescribed by law. There are no fees required from the State Bank, so businesses do not need to go through any intermediary.
Mr. Tran Huu Dong (owner of a gold shop in Can Giuoc, Long An ), said that on October 8, a person claiming to be a representative of a consulting company contacted him by phone, affirming that he would help him get a license quickly if he agreed to pay a fee of 20 million VND.
Seeing many suspicious signs, Mr. Dong researched and contacted the lawyer directly, only to find out that this procedure was completely free.
Recently, in a document requesting the Ho Chi Minh City Jewelry and Gemstone Association and relevant agencies in districts, towns, and Thu Duc City to coordinate in propagating and warning businesses about this issue, the State Bank of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City branch, emphasized that the issuance of certificates is only done at official agencies, not through intermediaries.
Therefore, when businesses have the desire and need to obtain a certificate of eligibility to trade in gold jewelry and fine arts, they can contact the one-stop transaction department directly for specific instructions. Businesses need to be cautious with invitations from self-proclaimed subjects to avoid falling into scam traps.
