Na Hoang suspension bridge's cables were washed away by floodwaters, traffic was temporarily cut off - Cao Bang Electronic Newspaper

At around 12 noon on October 7, in Tan Giang ward, flood broke the cable and severely damaged the structure of Na Hoang suspension bridge, the people's bridge connecting Na Hoang residential area with the ward center.

Floodwaters carried large timber and bamboo bushes into Na Hoang suspension bridge, causing severe damage.

According to local people, at around 10am, the water level of the Hien River rose high and flowed rapidly, carrying many large trees and bamboo bushes from upstream into the bridge, causing the cable car system to break, the bridge surface to be strongly shifted, and the structure to be almost completely damaged. Fortunately, there were no people passing by at the time of the incident.

As soon as they received the information, Tan Giang ward authorities and functional forces set up barriers, warned of danger, and did not allow people to pass through the bridge area; at the same time, assigned officers to be on duty and guide people to move in a safe direction.

Na Hoang suspension bridge is a connecting route serving the daily life and production of more than 50 households in the hamlet. The damaged bridge has temporarily cut off traffic in the area, causing many difficulties for people's lives.

According to records, prolonged heavy rains due to the impact of storm No. 11 have caused the water levels of rivers and streams in Cao Bang province to rise, many areas such as Tan Giang, Thuc Phan, Nung Tri Cao wards... are at risk of landslides and local flooding. Local authorities are urgently reviewing and inspecting bridges and culverts that are at risk of being unsafe to proactively respond.
