Chelsea have the opportunity to bring in Mike Maignan without spending any transfer fee next summer, to strengthen their position in goal.

The name that Chelsea leaders are targeting next summer is Mike Maignan, the number 1 goalkeeper of the French national team whose contract with AC Milan only lasts until June 2026.

Last summer, the London team expressed interest in Maignan but Milan asked for 25 million pounds for the 30-year-old goalkeeper.

Chelsea refused to pay the large sum at the time because Maignan only had 1 year left on his contract. However, they would soon return to court.

Mike Maignan is free to discuss with clubs outside Italy from the start of 2026. Chelsea could strike a deal now, allowing them to sign Maignan on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Coach Enzo Maresca is a big fan of Maignan and sees him as the perfect choice in the tactical system he has built.
