On the morning of September 28, news from the Cua Viet Port Border Guard Station (Quang Tri) said that at the left gate of Cua Viet Port, there were two Ba Ria - Vung Tau ships with codes BV4670 TS and BV0042 TS taking shelter from the storm.
One ship sank about 0.9 nautical miles from shore, and another ship is broken along the side.
According to information, there were 11 crew members on both ships. Currently, the waves are about level 5 - 6. The accident area is near the location where the Vietship09 ship had an accident in October 2020.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Anh - Political Commissar of Cua Viet Port Border Guard Station - said that at about 5:40 a.m. on September 28, the unit received a distress call from crew members on two sunken ships. The unit coordinated with other forces to deploy for rescue.
Among them, one ship ran aground on the northern bank of Cua Viet estuary, and another ship broke its side and sank on the southern bank of the estuary.
At 9am, the forces coordinated with fishermen to rescue 8 crew members on the stranded ship on the north shore. The crew members received initial health care and were brought to shore.
The sunken ship on the south shore has 3 crew members. One crew member is currently holding a buoy off the shore, while the other two are drifting and are being searched for.

Lieutenant Colonel Van Anh said there were about 100 people participating in the rescue, including border guards, police, the 2nd Coast Guard Squadron and many fishermen.
According to Tuoi Tre Online 's observations, in the sea area where the accident happened, there was heavy rain, strong winds of level 7-8, and high waves.

At 11:30 , a man was still clinging to the buoy out at sea. As the afternoon wore on, the wind and waves grew stronger. The white-capped waves, over 2 meters high, covered the man.
Inside the shore, frogmen and drones were mobilized to find a solution to rescue this fisherman.
Mr. Le Ngoc Quang - Secretary of Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee - present at the scene, said: "The forces inside are ready to respond, but at this time, the plans and forces are waiting for the wind and waves to decrease."
