During the reception, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue expressed his pleasure in accepting the invitation of Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani to officially visit Indonesia, attend the 44th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-44), and visit the beautiful city of Jakarta.
Emphasizing that the relationship between the two countries is developing well, as both traditional friends and strategic partners, the National Assembly Chairman affirmed that the visit aims to strengthen the relationship between the two countries on all channels and levels, including the Party, Parliament, Government , localities and people-to-people exchanges.
The National Assembly Chairman said this was his first official visit to Indonesia as the National Assembly Chairman; he expressed his impression of the development of the capital Jakarta - the largest urban area, with a population of only 3% but contributing up to 20% to Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The National Assembly Chairman shared that after expanding its administrative boundaries, Hanoi has become a development locomotive of the whole country, with a population of about 8% but contributing more than 17% to Vietnam's GDP.
The National Assembly Chairman hopes that the capitals of the two countries will strengthen cooperation and exchange development experiences, especially when direct flights are expected to open soon between Hanoi and Jakarta. The National Assembly Chairman said that the Vietnamese National Assembly has just approved the extension of the e-visa period from 30 days to 90 days, and the length of stay for entrants from 15 days to 45 days to create more favorable conditions for businesses, entrepreneurs and people of both sides to travel, invest in production and do business.
On this occasion, the National Assembly Chairman shared that the agencies of the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Capital City of Hanoi, in the process of building the Law on the Capital City (amended), wish to refer to Jakarta's experience, especially regarding Jakarta's specific policies.
Governor of the Jakarta Special Capital Region Heru Budi Hartono expressed his gratitude and agreed with the opinions of the Speaker of the National Assembly. Governor Heru Budi Hartono said that Hanoi and Jakarta have been twinned since 2004. He hoped that the two cities would continue to increase the exchange of experiences and cooperation in the fields of transportation, city administration, and service industry; and promote cooperation through the Jakarta Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as relevant agencies of Hanoi.
