The "Godmother" program continues to be a support for disadvantaged children.

(Baohatinh.vn) - With the efforts of women's associations at all levels, and the joint efforts of the community, recently, the "Godmother" program in Ha Tinh has become a bridge of charity, giving wings to unfortunate children to rise up.

In Yen Ha village (Thien Cam commune), Nguyen Nhu Khoa Pha Le (born in 2018) just celebrated a special Mid-Autumn Festival. Her mother passed away when she was born, her father disappeared, and she and her 9-year-old sister lived with their elderly grandmother. Understanding her situation, the Women's Union of Thien Cam commune mobilized the Women's Union and the Commune Police Youth Union to sponsor her for 5 years, with a total support of 50 million VND.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tuyet (73 years old, Pha Le's grandmother) expressed: "I don't know what to say other than thanking the women's union at all levels and the police. From now on, my child will have a second mother, another helping hand to help her grow up more firmly."

Pha Le's case is just one of hundreds of situations whose dreams were "lighted up" during the 2025 Mid-Autumn Festival. In addition to the sponsorships, on this occasion, the provincial women's associations at all levels also mobilized 323 million VND, giving gifts to 665 orphans, helping them enter the new school year.

In Hong Loc commune, Ho Sy Duc (born in 2017), an orphan whose mother married far away, has just been adopted by the Provincial Party Committee until he turns 18. This is one of 11 cases that the Provincial Women's Union has just connected with for adoption, with a total commitment of 450 million VND.

Ho Sy Duc (Yen Giang village, Hong Loc) was sponsored by the Party Committee of the provincial Party agencies until he was 18 years old.

According to the report of the Provincial Women's Union, since the Central Union launched the "Godmother" program at the end of 2021, up to now, the whole province has mobilized to sponsor 1,416 orphans, with a total committed budget of over 26 billion VND. Particularly from July 2025 to now, after implementing the 2-level local government model, the Unions at all levels continued to actively mobilize and 165 more children were sponsored, with a total committed support amount of 1.8 billion VND.

Many localities have effectively implemented the program, creating a ripple effect in the community such as: Provincial Police Women's Association, communes: Huong Khe, Son Tien, Huong Xuan, Cam Xuyen, Nghi Xuan, Hong Loc, Toan Luu, Bac Hong Linh ward... There, each sponsored child not only receives material support but also receives spiritual encouragement, fosters confidence, helps them to study well and integrate better into the community.

Not only providing material support, godmothers are also the spiritual support for less fortunate children.

Ms. Phan Thi Thuy - President of the Women's Union of Hong Loc commune shared: "Godmother" is a very humane and meaningful program. Through it, the association has a basis to mobilize and support orphans, helping them receive sharing and continue to write their dreams in life. Currently, we have mobilized to sponsor 7 children, but there are still many situations that need more kind hearts to join hands to help."

According to statistics, the whole province still has more than 3,000 orphans in difficult circumstances who need support in all aspects. Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Ha - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Women's Union said: "With the efforts of women's unions at all levels and the community, the "Godmother" program has become a bridge of love, connecting kind hearts with orphans. In the coming time, we will continue to promote connections and mobilize to spread the program further, calling for more resources to accompany, helping children overcome difficulties, confidently rise up in life".

Not stopping at small gifts during the Mid-Autumn Festival, the commitments of the “second mothers”, the “Godmother” program has been lighting the fire of love amidst the hustle and bustle of life. The Mid-Autumn Festival only comes once a year, but the kindness of the “godmothers” will continue like the full moon shining forever, guiding the less fortunate children to overcome difficulties and confidently move forward.
