With the theme "Connecting the Sky and Clouds - Reaching the Northwest", the Festival is not only an opportunity to honor the unique cultural values and the rich identity of the ethnic groups in the Northwest, but also a strategic step to strengthen connections and cooperation in developing inter-regional tourism, expanding the market, creating momentum for the economy - culture - tourism of the local cluster.
The highlight is the presence of thousands of delegates, artisans, domestic and foreign tourists, along with businesses and investors. This is a clear demonstration of the appeal of the brand “Quintessence of the Northwest”, and at the same time demonstrates the aspirations of Dien Bien and the entire region to rise in the integration era.
One of the special performances with the participation of artists
Multidimensional stage - when tradition meets modernity: Staged by General Director Viet Dang and a leading creative team, the opening art program brought a classy performance space, both lively and rich in symbolism.
The semi-aquatic stage is designed like a giant brocade, where light, music , choreography, 3D mapping technology, laser, and water kinetics blend together to create a multi-dimensional artistic picture. From the sounds of the Khen, Pi, and Then Thai instruments, to the endless bustling flower-shaped hoops, all are recreated in a shimmering space, both ancient and modern.
Multi-dimensional stage with modern and magnificent sound and lighting system
The program gathered famous artists such as Thu Minh, Tang Duy Tan, Ha Le, Da LAB, Oplus, Bao Tram, Nguyen Thu Hang, Mai Quinn, along with the participation of Dien Bien Province's Ethnic Arts Troupe, Northwest artisans, students, and military forces. More than 600 actors, artists, and the public joined in the grand scene, turning the opening night into a "vibrant symphony" of Northwest colors.
The artistic journey of weaving the quintessence, lighting up aspirations: The festival opens with the opening art performance “Weaving the Mountains - Echoes of Identity”, recreating the image of the giant loom of the great forest. Each stroke of the shuttle, each needle and thread is the memory of the village, the voice of nature and people of the Northwest.
The artistic chapters continue like an emotional journey:
“Touching Heritage - Shining the Essence” brings the audience back to their roots with the sounds of panpipes, then melodies, and xoe hoops, evoking the immortal values of heritage.
“Through the Rock Mountains” depicts the journey of overcoming hardships, where Dien Bien becomes a sacred gathering place, a symbol of the desire for revival and integration.
“Painting of the Clouds - Embroidery of Mountain Love” captivates people with the pure white color of Bauhinia flowers and bright red rhododendrons, blending with the rustic love of couples in the great forest.
“Weaving Sound - Weaving New Sunshine” is the intersection of the Northwest and Ho Chi Minh City - where the past and present intertwine, opening up the light of a new era.
One of the performances imbued with the unique cultural features of Dien Bien in particular and the Northwest region in general.
The climax moment when the map pieces of the 6 Northwestern provinces and Ho Chi Minh City combined on stage, creating the symbol "Northwestern Essence", left a strong impression: a picture of great solidarity, an aspiration to firmly reach out to the ocean.
The blend of cultural colors in the program
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the leader of Dien Bien province affirmed:
“The 2025 Northwest Quintessence Festival - Dien Bien not only honors the cultural heritage and people of the Northwest, but also opens the door to connect and invite domestic and international friends to the Northwest - a place where the quintessence converges, where the nation's aspirations to reach out are ignited”.
Along with the art program, the Festival also organizes a series of rich activities: trade and tourism fair, ethnic cultural exhibition, brocade fashion show, Northwest culinary space, and many exchange and experience activities for visitors.
From the heroic Dien Bien Phu battlefield in the past to the Northwest Quintessence Festival today, this land continues to affirm its position as a symbol of Vietnam's will, mettle and vitality. The Festival is not only a cultural festival, but also an opportunity for Dien Bien to introduce its potential, call for investment, and promote sustainable tourism development.
The opening program of the 2025 Northwest - Dien Bien Quintessence Festival ended in the shimmering light of the great solidarity xoe dance, but the echoes still resonate: the echoes of humanity, of identity, of national pride, and of a Northwest that is "rising strongly in the new era".
Tens of thousands of people watched the show
