Returning to Europe, Mr. Joe Biden will have to find a way to reassure European allies in the context that less than a month before the US presidential election will take place, former US President Donald Trump, who always had a tough attitude, is likely to be re-elected.
While in power, with the slogan "America First", Mr. Donald Trump surprised Europe when he was willing to impose high taxes, or demand that allies share security costs if they wanted the US to continue maintaining military bases in these countries.
Therefore, in addition to meeting with the host country's leaders, Mr. Joe Biden will also have a joint meeting with leaders of major European countries such as French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Affirming the commitment to alliance will be the message that Mr. Joe Biden will deliver in that meeting.
Joe Biden's last day in Germany will be spent at a conference to support Ukraine, held at the US military base in the city of Ramstein with the participation of more than 50 countries allied to Ukraine, including 32 NATO members.
In the context of fatigue among Ukraine's allies due to the prolonged Russia-Ukraine conflict, the second international conference on resolving the conflict in Ukraine will not take place as planned next November due to lack of consensus, Mr. Joe Biden will have to find ways to strengthen the alliance supporting Ukraine.
Finally, there is discussion with Europe about the hot issue of the Middle East in the face of the risk of Israel retaliating against Iran. Although Washington supports Tel Aviv, it is concerned that escalating conflicts will force the US to become more involved in the region.
