Quang Ninh Football Club returns to the First Division after many years of absence

On the evening of September 18, Quang Ninh Football Club held a ceremony to send off 30 players, including 11 new faces added before the season. Notably, many veterans associated with the "Mining Land team" such as Nghiem Xuan Tu, Mac Hong Quan, Vu Minh Tuan... reunited with the young players from Song Lam Nghe An, Hanoi FC, Da Nang. In phase 1, the team has not registered foreign players, prioritizing building a domestic foundation and the identity of "Discipline and Unity".

At the departure ceremony, the club's teachers and students expressed their determination to compete scientifically , accumulate points, and aim to compete for a ticket to V.League 2026/27. The team also called for the support of departments, branches, localities and the Quang Ninh Fan Club to create a solid foundation for the return of the football season.

Before being re-established, Quang Ninh football had to stop operating due to prolonged financial difficulties, salary debts to players and coaching staff, and unsustainable funding sources in the context of the tightening of budget support mechanisms for professional football. As a result, the old model was dissolved, and the team withdrew from the professional playing field. The current comeback is based on a new management foundation, financial transparency, and a more sustainable development orientation.

The 2025/26 First Division has 13 clubs, playing a round-robin tournament from September 19, 2025 to June 20, 2026 (26 rounds, 156 matches). The top two teams will be promoted to the 2026/27 V.League; the bottom two teams will be relegated to the Second Division next season. Prizes: the champion team will receive 2 billion VND, the runner-up will receive 1 billion VND, and the third place team will receive 500 million VND. New points this season: each club can register a maximum of 1 foreign player, 1 Vietnamese player of foreign origin, and 2 foreign players of Vietnamese origin.

Along with the First Division ticket, Quang Ninh will participate in the LPBank Securities National Cup 2025/26 (26 teams: 14 V.League, 12 First Division), taking place from September 13, 2025 to June 28, 2026; the champion team will receive 2 billion VND and a ticket to the Southeast Asian Club Championship 2026/27.
