According to the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), the Component 3 project “Essential works in the airport” of the Long Thanh International Airport Construction Investment Project Phase 1 has a total investment of more than VND99,000 billion. The project includes two runways, a passenger terminal and synchronous auxiliary items, with a designed capacity of 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo per year.

The compensation and site clearance work has now been completed. ACV has received the full area of 5,000 hectares, of which the boundary fence has reached 99.8%, with only about 50m remaining to be handed over. At the construction site, nearly 14,000 experts, engineers and workers, along with more than 3,000 pieces of equipment, have been mobilized to work day and night to ensure progress.

According to VTC News, the project area has been experiencing heavy rains in recent days, seriously affecting underground works as well as the drainage system and roadbed. However, ACV still directed the joint venture contractors to flexibly arrange construction, reasonably regulate human resources, and determined to basically complete the project by the end of 2025, and soon put Long Thanh airport into commercial operation in the first half of 2026.

The project's 15 packages are being implemented synchronously, of which three have been completed, including boundary fences within 1,810 hectares, drainage leveling and passenger terminal piling. The remaining 12 packages are being accelerated, with many items exceeding the contract schedule.

The runway, taxiway and apron category (package 4.6) has been basically completed by the consortium ACC – Truong Son – Vinaconex – Vinadic – Cienco4 – ACJC647. Previously, on September 26, Long Thanh airport welcomed the first calibration flight, marking an important technical milestone in the journey to bring the project to the finish line on schedule.

The passenger terminal aircraft parking package (4.7), constructed by the same consortium, has been adjusted in schedule, with the main part expected to be completed before December 31, 2025, 5 months earlier than the contract. The overlapping areas with underground infrastructure will be completed in March 2026.

The internal port traffic and technical infrastructure (package 4.8) are also being urgently deployed. It is expected that the technical tunnel system and main routes connecting the terminal will be completed before December 19, 2025. The overpass and the central power station are also expected to be completed at the same time, serving the technical operations.

For the fuel supply system (package 4.9), the PTSC - BCA Thang Long joint venture mobilized nearly 700 employees, expected to complete the construction part in 2025 and test the imported equipment in the first quarter of 2026, 3 months earlier than the contract.

Meanwhile, the passenger terminal package (5.10) - the central part of the entire project - constructed by the VIETUR consortium, is entering the final stage. Although the contract progress is extended until November 2026, ACV aims to basically complete the construction and equipment installation before December 31, 2025.

To date, the main roof and covered areas have been completed, and the steel structure of the telescopic bridge is expected to be completed in October 2025.

Finishing items such as plastering, paving, and installing facade glass are also being urgently deployed. At the same time, the mechanical and electrical systems, fire protection, escalators, baggage handling and passenger ramps are being installed synchronously, aiming for a trial run in early June 2026.

Along with the passenger terminal, auxiliary items such as parking garage (package 11.5), cargo terminal (7.8) and wastewater treatment system (4.11) are also being accelerated, striving to hand over the structure before December 19, 2025 to ensure synchronization with the overall airport.

Regarding the supply of materials, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province has allocated 14 quarries for construction, basically meeting the current demand. ACV affirmed that it will continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to remove obstacles and ensure the overall progress of the entire project.

According to ACV, although the workload is still very large, with the spirit of urgency, discipline and professionalism of tens of thousands of engineers and workers on the construction site, the goal of bringing Long Thanh airport - the largest international airport in Vietnam to the finish line by the end of 2025, ready for commercial exploitation in the first half of 2026 is gradually becoming a reality.
