Strengthening confidence is the “key” for Hanoi tourism to break through

The set of criteria "Enterprises for consumers in the tourism sector" is considered an important tool to help clean up the tourism environment and strengthen the reputation of Vietnamese enterprises in the international market.

After 9 bustling months of 2025, Hanoi tourism is approaching the goal of welcoming over 30 million visitors, affirming the strong attraction of the capital on the tourism map of Vietnam and the region.

According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in September 2025, the total number of visitors to the capital is estimated at nearly 4.2 million, of which 667,000 are international visitors, bringing in revenue of about 12,000 billion VND.

In the first 9 months of the year, Hanoi welcomed 26.07 million visitors, an increase of 23.8% over the same period in 2024. Of which, international visitors reached 5.5 million, domestic visitors 20.5 million, total revenue reached 98,360 billion VND, an increase of more than 20.7%.

These figures demonstrate the remarkable efforts of the capital’s tourism industry in diversifying products, improving service quality and stimulating domestic tourism. Up to now, Hanoi has completed 86% of the yearly plan, and it is forecasted that the last months of 2025 will continue to be bustling as the festival season and peak tourist season begin.

However, to maintain growth momentum and move towards sustainable development, Hanoi tourism not only needs to attract more visitors, but also needs to improve the trust and satisfaction of visitors. Towards that goal, the National Competition Commission ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) has developed and published a set of criteria for "Enterprises for consumers in the tourism sector". This is considered an important tool to help clean up the tourism environment and strengthen the reputation of Vietnamese enterprises in the international market.

The set of criteria applies to travel businesses, accommodation establishments, hotels, resorts, etc., focusing on protecting consumer rights, information transparency, and service quality standardization. Some notable criteria include: Providing accurate and complete information about products, services, prices, origins, and transaction methods (according to Point a, Clause 1, Article 21 of the Law on Consumer Protection 2023); Disseminating and guiding tourists to comply with the law, behave civilly, and respect local culture, customs, and practices (according to Point g, Clause 1, Article 37 of the Law on Tourism 2017); Coordinating with state management agencies to promptly handle violations, ensuring safety and order in tourism activities, etc.

These requirements not only help businesses improve themselves, but also become a measure of trust for domestic and foreign tourists to identify reputable and responsible tourism brands.

Obviously, in the context of increasingly fierce competition, Hanoi tourism needs to maintain its growth momentum not only “be more attractive”, but also “be more trustworthy”. And the criteria set “Enterprises for consumers in the tourism sector” is the foundation to realize that, making Hanoi become a civilized, friendly and top-experienced tourist city in the region.
