Da Nang pioneers in developing the pickleball movement

The working session took place within the framework of the PPA Tour Asia - MB Vietnam Cup 2025 International Pickleball Tournament taking place in Da Nang.

Mr. Tran Phuoc Son - Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Council, Chairman of the Da Nang Pickleball Federation - said that Da Nang is the first and currently the only locality in the country to establish a Pickleball Federation.

“In just a short time, the pickleball movement in the city has grown stronger and more professional with many major tournaments being held continuously,” said Mr. Son.

Hosting the Pickleball PPA Tour Asia - MB Vietnam Cup 2025 this time not only creates a professional mark but also contributes to promoting the city's image, attracting tourists and expanding the player community.

According to DPF leaders, the city also plans to bring this sport into schools to develop young people, thereby promoting the movement in depth.

Pickleball clubs, sports centers and communities are growing rapidly, creating a foundation for Da Nang to become a pioneer in promoting the pickleball movement in Vietnam.

Expectations for increased cooperation with Joola

At the meeting, Mr. Tran Phuoc Son suggested that Joola Group continue to accompany Da Nang in many fields, including coordinating the annual organization of international pickleball tournaments, thereby making the city a leading destination for this sport in the region.

The city also hopes that Joola will create conditions for Da Nang coaches and athletes to participate in intensive training courses at the group's centers, helping them reach international standards and improve organizational capacity.

One of the issues emphasized by Mr. Son is that the current price of pickleball equipment in Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular is quite high compared to the average price of other sports.

“If there is a factory in Da Nang soon, the cost will be significantly reduced, people will have easier access, and the movement will spread faster. The city is also ready to create conditions, support and accompany businesses,” said Mr. Son.

In addition, Da Nang asked Joola to support training equipment to deploy pickleball in schools and communities, and coordinate to expand promotional activities, training and international exchanges.

Mr. Richard Lee - CEO of Joola Global and Ms. Kimberly Koh - Director of PPA Asia, said that the group basically agreed with the contents proposed by Da Nang and will continue to discuss in more detail in the coming time.

DPF leaders hope that this cooperation will create a boost for pickleball in Da Nang to develop systematically and sustainably, gradually becoming a bright spot in the Vietnamese sports movement.
