General Phan Van Giang inspects the parade practice: 'A hundred people as one'

The parade subcommittee in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) held a joint training session in Hanoi this morning.

The opening was an art puzzle with the theme "The Country is Full of Joy" performed by artists and soldiers of the Army's ceremonial troupe. The puzzle included a gun dance.

Next is the parade practice and marching at 4 clusters in the 3 regions of North, Central and South.

Cluster 4 (Military Region 7) includes: Command vehicles, Liberation Army soldiers; female commando soldiers; and female Southern guerrillas.

Cluster 3 (Military Region 9 and Army Corps 34) includes: Officers representing five military wings; Logistics and Technical officers; Electronic Warfare soldiers; Border Guard officers.

Cluster 2 (Military Region 5) includes: Cyberspace Operations Force; Airborne Special Forces; and Marine Militia men.

Cluster 1 (National Military Training Center 4) includes: Party flag and national flag group; female military band group; Army officer group; Navy officer group; Air Defense - Air Force officer group; Coast Guard officer group; female Information officer group; female Military Medical officer group; female Vietnam Peacekeeping Soldiers group; Army soldier group; Armored soldier group; Special Forces soldier group; Northern Militia female group; Red flag group.

More than 5,200 officers and soldiers participated in the joint parade and marching training.

Speaking to encourage the forces participating in the parade, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, emphasized that this is an honor, glory and pride for each officer and soldier.

The Minister said that the armies of the countries that fought side by side with Vietnam in the resistance war also wanted to participate in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of national reunification.

"This joy is not only for the country of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people, the heroic Vietnam People's Army, but also for friends around the world. This is something we highly appreciate and acknowledge the contributions of all peace-loving people in the world, not only when we were still at war but now in peace, after 50 years, that sentiment is still intact as in the days of resistance," General Phan Van Giang shared.

The Minister expressed: "I am truly proud that your actions embody the strength of the Vietnam People's Army, the armed forces, and the militia. This is something I truly appreciate and acknowledge. A hundred people are one. We will carry this spirit, will, and belief to the day of victory and when we accept any task, we will be as determined as we were during the training days."

Regarding the shortcomings that need to be overcome, the leaders of the Ministry of National Defense noted that the blocks and clusters need to be determined to self-correct, self-discipline, learn from experience and help each other.

Commenting on some contents, General Phan Van Giang requested that the art formation section should add more soldiers and artists to participate in dance performances. Regarding the groups that participated in the parade, the Minister assessed that "they did well but still had to self-evaluate and try harder".

"All efforts are recognized with the spirit of determination that everyone must be one and maintain discipline...", the Minister assigned the task. He noted that the weather in the South is hot, so all groups need to pay attention to ensuring health, eating and living conditions.

The Minister also gave his opinion on specific plans for marching into Ho Chi Minh City and withdrawing troops when the mission ends, and organizing for officers and soldiers to visit historical sites of the city.

Within the blocs, the Minister said that it is necessary to organize emulation and timely commendation and rewards in each stage. In addition, unit commanders should promote a good sense of responsibility, care, encourage morale, grasp and resolve arising issues so that officers and soldiers can feel secure and complete their tasks well.

"All work must be thoughtful, meticulous, the best and most beautiful," the Minister emphasized.

He shared his memories of the 1985 parade, where a soldier was injured by a nail stuck in his shoe but still tried to complete his mission. Therefore, he suggested that it is necessary to carefully check the military equipment and improve their working style, because this joint training is also to prepare for the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country in September.

The concentrated training and joint exercise phase is expected to last until April 6, after which the units and mobile forces will enter Ho Chi Minh City.

Preliminary review phase is expected from April 25; general rehearsal is expected on April 27; official task implementation is on April 30.
