On the morning of May 18, Di An City Police arrived at the scene of a house on Thong Nhat Street, Binh Thang Ward, to investigate the incident where a pitbull dog bit an 82-year-old woman to death last night. When the police arrived, the pitbull was still ferocious, constantly thrashing and kicking in its cage. Three veterinarians had to use specialized iron pliers to restrain the dog, inject it with anesthesia, so that the police could take dental impressions to serve the investigation.

Initial testimony of Mrs. Tran Thi Thach Thao (44 years old, homeowner), the couple raised a pitbull and a German Shepherd in an iron cage, occasionally letting them out to feed and walk. On the evening of May 17, she opened the cage and took the pitbull out to the area in front of the porch. At this time, Mrs. Thao's mother was lying in the hammock in front of the house and shouted out, the dog attacked.

Seeing her mother bitten by the dog in many places, but the animal was too big and ferocious, the daughter could not pull it out. The victim died after about two minutes of being attacked. Relatives were able to control the dog, put it back in the iron cage, and report to the authorities. Mrs. Thao has not yet provided the dog's vaccination record when requested by the veterinary staff.

The homeowner told the police that the pitbull had never bitten anyone before, but was "very aggressive towards the elderly and children." According to Ms. Phuong, a neighbor of the victim's family, the dog that bit the person had been raised by the homeowner for about a year and was often locked in an iron cage. Once, the dog escaped from its cage and ran out onto the street, looking very ferocious, not afraid when many people chased it away with sticks.

Pitbull is a dog breed originating from America, commonly raised in Vietnam, very aggressive in nature, at the top of the dangerous dog breed rankings. With physical strength and sharp teeth, they can bite their opponents until their last breath. Recently, there have been a number of cases of pitbulls causing deaths in provinces and cities.

Doctors recommend that families with dogs should keep them locked up, muzzled, fully vaccinated, and warn people around them. When bitten by a dog, wash the wound thoroughly with soap and water for 15 minutes, then continue to wash the wound with 70% alcohol; take it to a medical facility for treatment and rabies vaccination.
