Proposing to strictly handle acts of child abuse

On the afternoon of September 12, continuing the 37th Session, under the direction of Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Hai, the National Assembly Standing Committee reviewed the report on the National Assembly's people's petition work in August 2024.

Voters expressed sympathy for the damage and loss caused by storm No. 3.

Reporting at the meeting, Head of the People's Petition Committee Duong Thanh Binh said that, given the complicated developments of the situation, storm number 3, The Party, the State and the entire political system have resolutely directed and organized the implementation of many solutions to minimize damage caused by storms.

Voters and people especially expressed their sympathy and understanding for the damage and loss of life and property in many localities and the collapse of Phong Chau bridge in Phu Tho province.

At the same time, we appreciate the direction of the Government, Ministries and localities that have quickly taken action with a proactive, decisive, preventive and response spirit at the highest level to limit damage and implement urgent solutions to overcome the consequences of the storm.

Voters expressed their agreement with the Program to support people affected by storm No. 3 launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and said that this is an activity demonstrating the good tradition of mutual love of the Vietnamese people, providing practical spiritual and material assistance, contributing to the rapid restoration of production and stabilization of the lives of people in areas affected by storms, floods and natural disasters.

According to the Head of the People's Aspirations Committee, voters and people are very interested in the foreign affairs activities of Party and State leaders in recent times, especially the official visit to the People's Republic of China by General Secretary and President To Lam; the official visit to the Russian Federation by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; and the official visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.

Voters believe that the above official visits will contribute to consolidating and developing the good relations, traditional friendship, comprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation between Vietnam and other countries.

Besides, voters highly appreciated the results. 8th Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly, the results of the 6th Conference of full-time National Assembly deputies and activities question of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the implementation of resolutions on thematic supervision and questioning from the beginning of the 15th National Assembly term to the end of 2023.

This is the first time in the term of the 15th National Assembly that the National Assembly Standing Committee has carried out the "re-supervision" activity, demonstrating the responsibility of the National Assembly Standing Committee in supervising to the end the implementation of the requests and recommendations of the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee; comprehensively assessing and clarifying the difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process so that timely solutions can be found and further enhancing the responsibility of the agencies under supervision. At the same time, it also demonstrates the accompaniment of the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee with the Government in implementing and implementing the requirements set out in the resolutions on thematic supervision and questioning.

However, Mr. Duong Thanh Binh pointed out that voters and people are worried that child abuse has continued to occur in many localities recently, especially the child abuse case that is attracting public attention at the Rose Shelter (District 12, Ho Chi Minh City). Voters are also concerned about the performance images with the appearance of inappropriate symbols of some artists when performing abroad...

Highly concentrate on rescue work, urgently overcome the consequences after the storm

In addition to some contents reflected by voters, the Government and the Prime Minister have issued documents directing and operating in the past time. The People's Petition Committee recommends that the National Assembly Standing Committee request the Government and the Prime Minister to pay attention to directing ministries, branches and localities to concentrate highly on forces, means and measures in searching, rescuing and saving missing and isolated people; ensuring essential necessities reach the people.

At the same time, direct the purchase of emergency response reserves; organize campaigns, donations, and provide practical and effective assistance; promptly overcome the consequences of storm No. 3, the situation of floods, landslides, flash floods in localities, stabilize the lives and production of affected people; proactively inspect and assess the safety level of traffic works, dykes, and power grids during the storm and flood season to ensure people's safety.

At the same time, proactively organize close monitoring of forecast information and developments of storms, rains, and floods, promptly direct and deploy response work to ensure safety of life and minimize property damage for people; strengthen information and propaganda work, resolutely handle those who spread false news and take advantage of difficult situations to violate the law.

According to the Petition Committee, the Ministry of Public Security needs to strictly handle acts of child abuse and promptly bring cases related to child abuse to trial.

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs shall strengthen inspection, examination and review of child care and nurturing facilities, ensuring compliance with regulations on establishment, organization, operation, dissolution and management of social assistance facilities and other legal regulations on alternative care and nurturing of children in special circumstances; promptly and strictly handle facilities that operate without registration, without a license or do not ensure conditions for child care and nurturing according to the law and instructions of competent authorities.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will verify and clarify information about artists taking photos and filming clips with images of the old regime's flag and strictly handle any violations.

Also according to the recommendation of the People's Petition Committee, the Government and the Prime Minister need to pay attention to directing localities to urgently review and thoroughly resolve mass complaints and denunciations, especially newly arising cases.
