A Luoi 5 Commune Police barricaded dangerous areas during storms.

Fast and timely

During the recent storm No. 10 (Bualoi), many rice fields of people in the highland communes of A Luoi were damaged by storm winds. Many households that suffered losses were single or elderly, so they lacked the labor force to harvest rice on time.

In A Luoi 2 commune, understanding the hardships of the people, the union members and youth of the commune police coordinated with the local government to organize forces to support people in harvesting rice, ensuring timely harvest progress and avoiding damage due to adverse weather. In the rice fields flooded by storm No. 10, officers and soldiers did not mind the fatigue, wading through mud with the people to harvest rice and bring each bundle of rice to the shore and transport it to a safe drying place.

Major Ngo Van Thanh, Chief of A Luoi 5 Commune Police, along with officers and soldiers in the unit, coordinated with the field to assist people in harvesting heavily flooded rice fields. At the same time, assigned forces to be on duty, barricades and signs were put up on dangerous roads that were flooded or at risk of landslides.

Also during storm No. 10, heavy rain caused Nguyen Huu Canh Street and some neighboring streets to be heavily flooded, with rushing water. After receiving the information, An Cuu Ward Police deployed forces and vehicles to the flooded area to evacuate households and some of their properties to safety.

Ensuring safety for people

According to information from Hue City Police, this year's storm season, the entire force continues to seriously implement the Plan on climate change response, natural disaster prevention, search and rescue and civil defense in 2025. At the same time, units are required to seriously operate the principle of "3 things to do" in natural disaster prevention and control, including: Preventing early, from afar, even before an incident occurs; Responding calmly, wisely, promptly, appropriately, safely and effectively; Urgently overcoming, mobilizing the joint efforts of the entire people and society.

Right from the beginning of the rainy season, the Waterway Police Team under the Traffic Police Department of Hue City Police has proactively deployed many response plans, ready to handle situations on inland waterways. With a high sense of responsibility and determination in disaster prevention and control, all officers and soldiers maintain a high state of readiness, rescue vehicles, life jackets, medicines and essential supplies are fully prepared to promptly support people when emergencies occur.

Every day, working groups take turns patrolling along the Huong River, Bo River, Huu Trach River, Tam Giang Lagoon, etc., both monitoring and inspecting, and propagating to vehicle owners to strictly comply with regulations on waterway traffic safety during the rainy and stormy season. The combination of patrolling and propaganda contributes to raising public awareness, minimizing unfortunate incidents.

In Quang Dien commune, the commune police force promptly assisted nearly 80 households whose roofs were blown off in storm No. 10 to overcome the consequences. Lieutenant Colonel Ho Minh Binh, Head of Quang Dien Commune Police, said that the unit has also proactively prepared all plans and means so that when floods occur, it can be ready to help people and join with local authorities to respond to the situation. The highest goal is to minimize damage to people and property as well as ensure security and order in the area during the rainy and stormy season.

Quang Dien Commune Police also regularly inspect and maintain disaster prevention and control equipment such as motorboats, cole boats, life jackets, life buoys, and gasoline. The unit also carefully checks households in areas at risk of evacuation, makes a specific list, and arranges safe shelters. In particular, police officers directly visit households along rivers and lagoons and fishermen to propagate and instruct on flood prevention and control measures and provide hotline numbers.

To be proactive in responding to natural disasters, Hue City Police have arranged forces and vehicles, including 50 canoes, 60 boats, 24 fire trucks, 57 chainsaws, 141 engines, 2,000 life jackets and other equipment to be ready for rescue work, helping people in natural disasters and floods.
