Actor Do Nhat Hoang: Stepping into the "light" with progress

The age of 27 has become a memorable milestone for actor Do Nhat Hoang. Before causing a "fever" with Red Rain, he had surpassed thousands of candidates to take on the main role - Phuc for the first time in Once Upon a Time There Was a Love Story (directed by Trinh Dinh Le Minh), released at the end of 2024.

Although not really successful, that debut performance created an important foundation to help the audience initially "remember" Do Nhat Hoang before he made his mark with the image of Cuong - an enthusiastic music conservatory student, ready to put aside his dream of studying abroad to "put down his pen and go to war".

There are many reasons why the audience is impressed with Do Nhat Hoang's performance in Red Rain . Right from the moment he said goodbye to his mother on the train platform to enter the Citadel battlefield, the young student's eyes were both gentle and filled with determination. When he was fighting between the line of life and death, Hoang fully expressed his will, courage and bravery. In particular, the close combats, especially the one-on-one confrontation with Quang (Steven Nguyen), brought the audience a satisfying cinematic experience. But what made the audience love Cuong in Red Rain even more was that he was not only a soldier who rushed into battle, but also exuded the gallantry and romanticism of a Hanoi student, making the image more multidimensional, real and closer.

Do Nhat Hoang shared that when he accepted the role of Cuong, he felt very worried because this was the biggest project of his life, not only in terms of the story content but also in terms of the meaning of the project. "We are young people born and raised in peacetime, no matter how hard we try to learn and practice, it is still very difficult to truly feel what it is like to survive in war like our ancestors," Hoang confided. That is why, right from the preparation stage, he spent months practicing speaking in his original Hanoi accent. On set, even when he had a high fever that made the whole crew worried, Hoang still pulled himself together to complete the most complete scenes. That wholeheartedness contributed to creating the image of a soldier who is both heroic and close, leaving a strong impression on the audience.

Born in 1997, a professional dancer, Do Nhat Hoang soon nurtured his passion for cinema. From a role that only lasted a few seconds - Mai's ex-lover (Phuong Anh Dao) in the movie Mai , he quickly made a leap forward when participating in Ngay Xua Co Mot Truyen Tinh . Before the release of Red Rain , Hoang also tried his hand at the role of Dong - a strange character with an abnormal mind in the TV series Co Dung Hop Tue Tu Toi. In this role, Hoang had the opportunity to explore a natural acting style, unleash his imagination, creativity and escape all stereotypes. Colleague Le Phuong, who played Dong's second sister, commented that Hoang was an articulate co-star, knew how to improvise, had a spirit of cooperation and was especially graceful in the way he "threw pieces", creating a harmonious juggling on screen.

After only 2 years since entering the film industry, Do Nhat Hoang has affirmed his own mark with his spirit of constant progress. Initial success is the "sweet fruit" of passion, but more importantly, it opens up a wide path if he continues to maintain his inquisitiveness, persistently practice and be strict with himself.
