At the opening session of the 1st Congress of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, which took place on the morning of October 3, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam - Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee - announced the decision of the Politburo to mobilize, assign and appoint the Executive Committee and Standing Committee of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee for the term 2025 - 2030.

The Politburo decided to allow Mr. Tran Van Lau - Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City - to cease participating in the Executive Committee and Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2020 - 2025 term; and to transfer him to participate in the Executive Committee and Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, holding the position of Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee for the 2025 - 2030 term.

According to the decision of the Politburo, the Executive Committee of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee for the 2025 - 2030 term has 83 members, of which the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee has 24 members. Ms. Ho Thi Hoang Yen was appointed as the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee. The Deputy Secretaries include: Mr. Lam Minh Dang, Lu Quang Ngoi, Le Van Han, Kim Ngoc Thai and Nguyen Minh Dung.

Mr. Tran Van Lau was born in 1970, hometown Hoa Tu 1 commune, My Xuyen district, Soc Trang province (old). Professional qualifications: Master of Party building and state administration; Bachelor of political science, major in social management. Advanced level of political theory.

From February 1985 to January 1990, he was a student at the Military Region 9 Cadet School; a student at the Engineering Officer School, majoring in construction engineering command.

From February 1990 to October 2020, he was successively promoted from professional lieutenant to colonel and held the following positions: Platoon Leader of Phu Loi Battalion, Soc Trang Provincial Military Command; Political Commissar of Long Phu District Military Command, Deputy Political Commissar, Political Commissar of Soc Trang Provincial Military Command; Colonel, Commander of Soc Trang Provincial Military Command, Member of the Standing Committee of Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee, term 2015 - 2020.

From November 2020, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the 2020 - 2025 term, Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province for the 2016 - 2021 term, 2021 - 2026 term.

From July 1, 2025, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City.
