The contrasting morning and afternoon scenery is as beautiful as a painting in Mu Cang Chai.

Mu Cang Chai is pristine in the morning sunlight, but in the evening, the scenery becomes more poetic under the brilliant sunset. The photo series was taken by photographer Nguyen Khanh Vu Khoa.

Green dawn on the village

Returning to Mu Cang Chai (Lao Cai) after 3 years, photographer Nguyen Khanh Vu Khoa (living in Ho Chi Minh City) spent 4 days to find the rhythm of life and the scenery that once captivated him. The end of September was sunny and there was little rain, but the clay roads in Hu Tru Lin were still muddy and slippery, causing Khoa to slip and fall several times. Passing the steep hilly roads with a cliff on one side and a mountain on the other, the spectacular scenery of the Northwest mountains and forests appeared before his eyes.

The morning sunlight seeps through the mountain range, lighting up the green terraced fields gradually turning yellow in Kim Noi, dotted with small houses on the hillside, creating a vibrant picture. From afar, Khoa captured the moment when the H'Mong people came to visit the fields, or simply leisurely walked on the winding roads, immersing themselves in the symphony of heaven and earth.

The sunset is brilliant

If the dawn gives Khoa a pure, clear scene, the sunset in Hu Tru Lin brings a magical, passionate beauty that is hard to forget. After the rain, the golden sunlight penetrates the clouds, pours down the valley, creating brilliant streaks of light. The humidity rises high, the mist and clouds drift, while the sky is still gray from the remaining clouds. That scene, both brilliant and magical, completely captivates the photographer.

The sunlight covered the ripe rice fields, weaving a picture of breathtaking beauty. At that moment, Khoa realized that he was not only capturing a beautiful scene, but also preserving a part of the simple, rich life of the people. That is also the reason why he named this photo series "The Day the Rice Falls Across the Village".
