According to the Electronic Information Portal of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, on the morning of October 3, the Department of Cinema spoke up about the Chinese film Let Me Shine, which was reported to have the image of the illegal "cow tongue line", violating Vietnam's territorial sovereignty and Vietnamese law.
Mr. Do Quoc Viet - Deputy Director of the Department of Cinema, said: "The Department will take steps to handle the case according to regulations. Based on the results of the inspection, the Department of Cinema will take strict measures to handle the case in accordance with the provisions of law, and at the same time strengthen inspection and supervision measures to prevent violations that may recur in the future."
Request report, propose treatment before 11am today
Specifically, the Department of Cinema (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) has just sent an official dispatch to Viettel Telecommunications Corporation,FPT Telecommunications Joint Stock Company, VieOn Joint Stock Company, Vietnam Satellite Digital Television Company Limited, Tencent Holdings Limited Company to report and explain the release and distribution of the film Let Me Shine.
Accordingly, the Department of Cinema received information reflecting that the film Let Me Shine produced by China is being disseminated on cyberspace, including the image of the "cow tongue map" violating national sovereignty and violating Article 9 of the 2022 Cinema Law.
The Department of Cinema requires film distribution platforms to report, clearly showing information about the film (film name, country of production, supplier), form of distribution (copyright purchase, distribution cooperation, etc.), time of distribution on the platform, film censorship and classification process before distribution, and proposed measures of the platform in case of violation.
The Department of Cinema requests relevant units to report on time and with required content according to the law before 11:00 a.m. on October 3.
Support strict handling of films with 'cow tongue line'
In episode 16 of the movie Let Me Shine , the image detail of the "cow tongue line" map violating Vietnam's territorial sovereignty appeared, making many Vietnamese audiences angry.

Immediately, the attitude of Vietnamese audiences towards the film starring Trieu Lo Tu changed 180 degrees. A series of social networking sites specializing in reporting on Chinese movies and showbiz announced to stop sharing information about this film as well as delete related posts. Units and film distribution sites also removed and deleted all 16 episodes of the film on the system.
Commenting on the Electronic Information Portal of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, many viewers supported the Department of Cinema to take serious action in handling this case, and at the same time called for not releasing all films with images of the illegal "cow tongue line".
