Attending the seminar were more than 100 delegates including scientists , experts, technical staff, businesses, cooperatives and durian farmers in communes in the Da Huoai area (Da Huoai, Da Huoai 2, Da Huoai 3, Da Teh, Da Teh 2, Da Teh 3, Cat Tien, Cat Tien 2, Cat Tien 3).

Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thien - Deputy Director of the Lam Dong Provincial Agricultural Extension Center said: In recent years, durian has become a crop with high economic value, contributing to increasing income, improving the lives of farmers and affirming the position of Vietnamese agricultural products in the international market. However, durian production is facing many challenges, especially the phenomena of hard rice, hard water, burnt segments, flower and fruit drop. – problems that cause serious damage to productivity, quality and product reputation.

The causes of these phenomena are due to erratic climate and weather changes, unsuitable soil and nutrition for durian trees. In addition, care techniques are limited and pests and diseases are complex. This poses an urgent need to find synchronous, safe and sustainable technical solutions to overcome and effectively prevent the phenomenon of hard rice, hard water, burnt segments, flower and fruit drop on durian trees.

At the seminar, delegates exchanged and updated scientific and technical advances in durian cultivation and care.
At the same time, listen to experts advise on specific solutions to limit and overcome adverse phenomena on the trees. This includes reviewing and supplementing the process of cultivating durian trees in a sustainable direction; needing to check soil, water, fertilizers, pesticides and promote breeding, ensuring durian meets safety standards for both domestic and export markets.

At the same time, the application of high technology and digitalization in production, such as applying advanced, energy-saving irrigation systems, nutritional and humidity sensors, etc., helps durian trees grow and develop best.
Through the discussion, it has created a connection between experts, businesses and farmers to share practical experiences. From there, it has built a sustainable, high-quality durian production process to meet market demands.
It is known that Lam Dong province currently has the largest durian growing area in the country with 44,000 hectares, yielding 226,000 tons/year.
