According to data just released by the Foreign Investment Agency ( Ministry of Finance ), in the first 8 months of 2025, Vietnamese investors invested 108 new projects abroad, with a total registered capital of 426.5 million USD, and made 21 adjustments to investment capital, with a total adjusted investment capital of 129.7 million USD.
Thus, Vietnam's total investment capital abroad in the past 8 months reached over 556.1 million USD, 3.8 times higher than the same period in 2024.
Data from the Foreign Investment Agency shows that foreign investment capital of Vietnamese enterprises is mainly focused on the fields of electricity and gas production and distribution, with a total investment capital of more than 111.2 million USD, accounting for 20% of total capital; transportation and warehousing, with 109.1 million USD, accounting for 19.6%; and wholesale and retail, with 78.5 million USD, accounting for 14.1%.

By market, in the past 8 months, 33 countries and territories received investment from Vietnam. Of which, the countries attracting the most investment capital from Vietnam are Laos - with a capital of 150.3 million USD (accounting for 27% of total capital); Philippines - with a capital of 61.8 million USD (accounting for 11.1% of total capital); Indonesia - with a capital of nearly 60.45 million USD (accounting for 10.9% of total capital).
Germany and the US are the next two markets, accounting for 9.1% and 5.7% of Vietnam's total foreign investment capital in the first 8 months of 2025, respectively.
Thus, by the end of August 2025, Vietnam had 1,929 valid foreign investment projects, with a total foreign investment capital of over 23.17 billion USD.
With this capital, Vietnamese investors have invested abroad in 18/21 sectors, focusing mostly on mining (nearly 7.1 billion USD, accounting for 31% of total capital); agriculture, forestry and fishery (more than 3.4 billion USD, accounting for 15% of total capital) and information and communication (more than 2.9 billion USD, accounting for 13% of total capital).
In terms of partners, as of August 2025, Vietnam has invested in 84 countries and territories. The localities receiving the most investment from Vietnam are Laos (over 5.8 billion USD, accounting for 25.1% of total capital); Cambodia (over 2.94 billion USD, accounting for 12.7% of total capital); Venezuela (nearly 1.83 billion USD, accounting for 7.9% of total capital)...
