Lam Dong Department of Health announced the recall of a batch of processed red Fo-ti medicine.

On October 3, Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health announced the recall of traditional medicine processed red Fo-ti due to level 2 quality violations.

The Inspection and Legal Department, Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health strengthens inspection of medical drug trading establishments.

Accordingly, the Department of Traditional Medicine Management decided to compulsorily recall nationwide the batch of processed red Fo-ti traditional medicine produced by Vietnam Pharmaceutical Materials Joint Stock Company (Zone 8, Phu Ninh Commune, Phu Tho Province).

The batch of medicine with registration number VCT-00013-20, batch number 1020525, production date May 5, 2025, expiry date May 5, 2027, was sampled at the Pharmacy Department - Phuc Tho District General Hospital ( Hanoi ) and determined to have level 2 quality violation in the combined Anthraquinone quantitative index.

Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health requests that medicinal herb businesses and medical examination and treatment facilities in the province immediately stop trading, selling and using the above batch of processed red Fo-ti that violates quality.

Facilities must identify remaining drug reserves, make a list of units and individuals who have purchased (if any), receive recalled products and return them to suppliers, and report the recall results to the Department of Health before October 10, 2025.

Lam Dong Province Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Testing Center strengthens monitoring of medicinal herbs quality, takes samples for testing in the area, especially for medicinal herbs that violate quality.

The Departments of Culture and Society at ward, commune and special zone levels coordinate with functional agencies to step up inspection and supervision of medicinal herb trading establishments and traditional medicine examination and treatment establishments, and strictly handle violations.

The Inspection and Legal Department continues to coordinate with relevant units to strengthen inspection and handle violations according to its authority.
