Vietnam women's team gathers to prepare for SEA Games 33

Under the guidance of head coach Mai Duc Chung, the list of 27 players has been sent to the Department of Sports and Physical Training. Notably, there are no players from Ho Chi Minh City Club, as this team will participate in the 2025/26 Asian Women's Club Championship in mid-November.

In the coaching staff, Coach Mai Duc Chung continues to receive support from experienced colleagues such as Coach Doan Minh Hai, young coach - former player Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, fitness coach Cedric Serge Christian Roger and a doctor accompanying the team.

Sharing before the gathering, coach Mai Duc Chung said this was the third gathering in 2025 to prepare for the goal of defending the SEA Games championship.

“This time, we have called on many promising young faces who have performed well in recent tournaments. We hope they will practice hard and strive to be on the list of participants in the SEA Games. Meanwhile, veteran players are always ready to give way to the next generation of talented young players,” Mr. Chung shared.

The veteran coach affirmed that the goal of the Vietnamese women's team is still to aim for the highest position at SEA Games 33.

“Regional rivals have invested heavily, even naturalizing many players to increase their strength. Vietnamese players may be disadvantaged in terms of physique, but we have spirit, will, dexterity and agility. The Vietnam Football Federation has created conditions for the team to go on training trips and compete in international friendlies, helping players gain valuable experience,” Mr. Chung emphasized.

According to the plan, the whole team will gather on the morning of October 21 and have their first training session in the afternoon of the same day. On November 20, the national women's team will leave for Japan for training, expected to play 3 friendly matches with the country's top women's clubs.
