Qatar 3-0 Lebanon

The first match of the 2023 Asian Cup was the match between Qatar and Lebanon. The home team started the tournament smoothly thanks to goals from two of the most important stars - Akram Afif and Almoez Ali.

Qatar dominated the game from the start, dominating possession. However, the home team’s attacks lacked creativity, simplicity, and were not surprising enough to cause Lebanon’s defense any problems.

On the other hand, Lebanon patiently defended and waited for opportunities in counter-attack situations. They were the team that launched more dangerous shots in the first half.

In a deadlock, Qatar needed a moment of brilliance to open the scoring. Minutes before the break, Akram Afif put the home side ahead after an assist from Almoez Ali.

In the second half, Lebanon took the initiative to push up the formation. However, when they had not created clear pressure on the opponent's defense, Qatar scored another goal. Mohammed Waad's cross from the left wing gave Almoez Ali a golden opportunity that the striker could not miss when he was unmarked.

The 2-goal difference helped Qatar play more comfortably. They actively defended, creating a safe game. The Lebanese players tried to attack but were not effective. In the extra time, Qatar scored another goal with Afif to set the score at 3-0.
