When the earthquake occurred, many people in Thanh Thuy district (Phu Tho) and Ba Vi district (Hanoi) felt the shaking. "I was sitting at home with my family when I was startled because the furniture in the house shook violently, there was a loud noise for about 5-10 seconds," said Manh Thang (in Thanh Thuy district).

Mr. Cuong (in Ba Vi district) said he felt his desk and phone vibrate strongly for about 2-3 seconds, then realized it was an earthquake. "At first, I thought it was just a car driving on the road, but then I went online and saw people sharing, and realized it was an earthquake in Phu Tho," Mr. Cuong said.

Also today, a magnitude 2.8 earthquake occurred in Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province. The earthquake had a focal depth of about 8.1 km, with a natural disaster risk level of 0.

To ensure people's safety against earthquakes, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hong Phuong - senior expert of the Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center recommends:

"In Vietnam, strong and destructive earthquakes like those in Japan, the Philippines or Indonesia are very rare, they are mainly medium earthquakes, but even medium earthquakes can cause damage.

Therefore, when an earthquake occurs, people should leave their homes and seek open spaces to avoid dangers such as collapsed ceilings or falling objects on people. And especially, they must follow the recommendations of specialized authorities and the recommendations of earthquake scientists .
