
According to the Civil Defense Command of Tan Long commune ( Dong Thap province), the landslide on the Tien river bank occurred on the night of October 13, about 30 meters long, 20 meters deep inland, causing many areas of crops to collapse.
According to initial statistics, 11 households were affected by the landslide, the nearest of which was only about 5 meters from the edge of the landslide. Tan Long Commune People's Committee mobilized the police, militia and the hamlet People's Committee to support, ensuring the "four on-site" motto, while closely monitoring the landslide developments to respond promptly.
Immediately after the incident, local authorities coordinated with functional agencies of Dong Thap province to count the damage, propagate and mobilize people to move their properties and houses to a safe place.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Thap province, the whole province currently has more than 70 landslide locations with a total length of more than 7km, the estimated cost to repair is about 505 billion VND.
The situation of landslides along Tien River has been complicated in recent days. Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Tran Tri Quang has announced an emergency situation of landslides in the area of bank erosion prevention embankment in Thuong Phuoc commune and Nguyen Huong street (Cao Lanh ward) to urgently deploy response measures to ensure safety for people.
