Breathing life into campaigns and emulation movements

Reporter: Sir, the 2019-2024 term is a very successful term for the Vietnam Fatherland Front in all aspects of work, especially the patriotic emulation movements and campaigns that have been practically deployed by the Vietnam Fatherland Front to each residential area. How do you evaluate these achievements?

Dr. Nguyen Viet Chuc: In the past term, the outstanding mark of the Vietnam Fatherland Front was building a united and consensual residential area. Looking back at the time when our country was in the "war" against the Covid-19 pandemic, we can feel this even more clearly. Thanks to the spirit of sharing and community cohesion, we have gradually controlled and pushed back the epidemic. Hanoi and many other localities have greatly limited the damage caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. That shows the very important role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

A specific example is in Hanoi, where I live. After more than 10 years of implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, with the attention and investment of all levels and the participation of the entire political system, up to now, 100% of the city's communes and districts have met the new rural standards, finishing 2 years ahead of the plan assigned by the Central Government. This is thanks to the leadership of the Party and the State, the cooperation and contribution of all classes of people, including the significant contributions of Front officials. Because the Front always has working groups and Front Working Committees directly reaching wards, residential groups, villages, hamlets... This movement has the effect of making patriotic emulation movements implemented methodically and substantially, helping to build new rural areas more and more effectively. More importantly, the material and spiritual life of the people has been improved and enhanced, and livable countryside has gradually been formed.

The new situation requires innovation and improvement in the quality of implementing campaigns and patriotic emulation movements. What is your opinion on this issue?

- I think that the Vietnam Fatherland Front must constantly improve the quality of implementing patriotic emulation campaigns and movements. Because emulation that only focuses on form and forgets quality is not good. During the last term of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, many grassroots Front officials have constantly been creative, proactively proposed and implemented many effective models. The grassroots Front officials are ready to "roll up" into work, implementing specific tasks in a very vivid and practical way, even going through many difficulties and hardships due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the socio -economic situation and the impacts from the international situation in general.

So in the new situation, how to mobilize effectively? In my opinion, if cadres are close to the people and close to the movement, the people will see the meaningful movement. If implemented systematically, dynamically, and closely following the breath of life, the emulation movement will truly make life more and more qualitative. Especially the issue of building a united residential area. Unity is consensus, without consensus, it is very difficult to carry out work. Our nation's culture has a saying: "If husband and wife are in agreement, the East Sea can be drained", meaning that in the family, as long as husband and wife are of one mind and work together, all difficulties will be overcome. Looking at society as a whole, if we are in agreement, everything can be done well.

What expectations do you have for the new term of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in improving the quality of implementing campaigns and patriotic emulation movements, building a united, prosperous and happy residential area?

- Improving the quality of patriotic emulation movements and campaigns is very practical in the coming term. Doing this will demonstrate the determination of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in bringing the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State into life, contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of the people. This also demonstrates a new determination in the requirements of today's era. I believe that in the coming years, the Vietnam Fatherland Front will have clear developments in all aspects of work, contributing to the overall development of the country. The 10th Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front will demonstrate the spirit of innovation, arousing the aspiration to develop the country in the future.
