The individual brilliance of Sanfrecce Hiroshima's attack made the difference. Sota Nakamura opened the scoring with a powerful shot from a tight angle. Not long after, Satoshi Tanaka skillfully handled the penalty area and fired a decisive shot into the Nam Dinh net.

Conceding two goals, the Vietnamese team tried to attack but to no avail. On the contrary, mistakes from the defenders caused Nam Dinh FC to concede another goal. Center back Lucas de Araujo made a bad pass, giving Sanfrecce Hiroshima the chance to score the winning goal 3-0.

The heavy defeat has reduced Nam Dinh FC’s hopes of advancing. The reigning V.League champions must win at least 4-0 in the second leg away from home to create a surprise and qualify for the AFC Champions League 2 quarter-finals.
