After 95 years of establishment and growth, with over 50% of the population being women, the Vietnam Women's Union is determined to always maintain its mission in the new era of the nation; continue to be worthy of being a warm and loving common home; be a reliable support, an organization representing the rights and legitimate interests of Vietnamese women in the era of national development.

A reliable support for all classes of Vietnamese women

Inheriting the tradition that has been forged from thousands of years of history of building the country of our people: Vietnamese women across the country are extremely proud of the birth and development of the Vietnam Women's Union under the direct leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh. Right from the early days of its establishment, our Party has identified women as a force that contributes significantly to the revolutionary cause, Party building and national defense. The Resolution of the First Party Central Committee Conference (October 1930) marked the formation and birth of the first Union organization of the women's movement in the whole country. Since then, predecessor women's organizations such as: Women's National Salvation Union, Women's Liberation Union, Democratic Women's Union, Anti-Imperialist Women's Union... have opened the way for the formation and development of the Vietnam Women's Union.

Ms. Truong My Hoa, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Vice President, former President of the Vietnam Women's Union affirmed: Since its establishment, under the wise and talented leadership of the Party, the Vietnam Women's Union has always promoted its role in gathering, mobilizing, organizing, guiding, and supporting women to join revolutions, patriotic emulation movements, and action programs, suitable for each period. The role of the Vietnam Women's Union has not only been affirmed domestically but also recognized and highly appreciated by the International Federation of Democratic Women and women's organizations and friends of other countries.

It can be said that, during 95 years of construction and growth, the Association has gathered and united women of all walks of life, promoted the tradition of "Heroic - Indomitable - Loyal - Responsible"; mobilized millions of women to participate in patriotic movements, contributing to the victory of the August Revolution in 1945 and the resistance wars to protect the Fatherland as well as in the cause of national construction.

The Association always promotes its role as a socio-political organization representing the legitimate and legal rights and interests of women; strives for the development of women, gender equality, becoming a warm common home, a reliable support for all classes of Vietnamese women. The Association's solidarity has been expanded, with diverse and attractive models, gathering a large number of women from all walks of life nationwide to participate with nearly 20 million members, the proportion of female party members accounts for 38.1% of the total number of party members nationwide. The work of arranging the Association's organizational apparatus according to the two-level local government model has been implemented urgently, seriously and effectively. Gender equality work has been given attention and direction (in 2025, Vietnam was ranked 74/146 countries by the United Nations, up 13 places compared to 2020). People's foreign affairs activities have been expanded; The position and role of the Association are increasingly affirmed in the political, economic, cultural and social life of the country and in the international arena.

Through emulation movements, the work of the Association and the women's movement has achieved many positive results. The work of participating in Party building, the political system, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of women; activities to support women in economic development are increasingly professional and effective. Social security and environmental protection activities are widely deployed. In the period of 2020-2025, hundreds of thousands of members have received loans for economic development and job creation; over 170,000 women's households have been supported to escape poverty, 110,000 women have been supported to start a business; 660 cooperatives managed by women and more than 10,000 women's cooperatives have been established, making an important contribution to the national startup ecosystem, enhancing the role of women in economic development. The Association at all levels has also mobilized more than 650 billion VND to support the prevention and fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, over 32,000 orphans have been sponsored with a total amount of nearly 200 billion VND; thousands of "Love Homes" have been built. Speaking at the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Women's Union, General Secretary To Lam assigned 10 key orientations and tasks - considered as "strategic breakthroughs" of the Vietnamese women's movement for the period 2025-2035, vision 2045. Specifically, building Vietnamese women of the new era: Patriotic - Self-reliant - Courageous - Compassionate - Intelligent - Creative - Responsible - Digital - Green; upgrading the campaign "Building a family of 5 no's, 3 clean's" to "5 no's, 3 clean's, 3 safe's": safe - secure - social security. "Safe" means no violence, no abuse; "secure" means schools, hospitals, digital spaces that are friendly to women and children; "social security" means childcare services, elderly care, micro-insurance, and charitable credit; breaking through digital transformation in the Union and for its members; Promoting women's economics: from sustainable livelihoods to women-owned enterprises.

The General Secretary also reminded the Vietnam Women's Union at all levels to take care of preschool education, nutrition, and early child development, considering this a strategic priority to increase labor productivity and population quality; protect women and children from gender-based violence, human trafficking, and high-tech crimes; detect, train, and use female cadres, increase the proportion of women participating in leadership and management at all levels, especially at the grassroots level; build a safe, healthy, and culturally rich environment, honoring Vietnamese ao dai, culinary arts, and traditional crafts kept by women; preserve the Vietnamese language, family traditions, and etiquette; and fight against hybrid, offensive, and pragmatic manifestations. Culture in every family; family in every residential area; civilized residential area in every new urban-rural area - women are the conductors, the cultural ambassadors on the front line...

Our country is entering a new stage of development with higher goals, striving for a strong, prosperous and happy Vietnam, requiring responsible, active and effective participation of the entire political system and all classes of people, including Vietnamese women. Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, President of the Vietnam Women's Union Nguyen Thi Tuyen stated: With responsibility before the Party, the State and women nationwide, the Vietnam Women's Union will promote the achievements of 95 years of construction and growth; closely follow the direction of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, headed by General Secretary To Lam to concretize and effectively implement in all levels of the Union. Special attention is paid to tasks of innovation, science and technology development, digital transformation, international integration, supporting women to start businesses; developing the private economy, developing education and training; Protect and care for people's health, implement social security policies well; build prosperous, equal, and happy families; strive for couples to have two children before the age of 35; pioneer in implementing gender equality and preventing violence.

The Association at all levels will continuously innovate the content and methods of operation in a practical and effective direction, for the development of Vietnamese women, promote the role of members of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, participate in building a clean and strong Party and political system. Diversify forms of attracting and gathering members, pay attention to women in difficult areas, ethnic minorities in mountainous areas, islands, industrial zones, and disadvantaged women so that no one is left behind...
