(Dan Tri) - The Gulf of Mexico will be displayed as "American Gulf" on Google Maps for users in the US.

"People using Google Maps in the US will see Gulf of America, while people in Mexico will see Gulf of Mexico. Everyone else will see both names," Google said in a statement.
The change comes after US President Donald Trump signed an executive order renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. Google previously said it has "a long-standing practice of applying name changes when they have been updated in official government sources."
Shortly after taking office last month, Mr. Trump signed executive orders that not only renamed the Gulf of Mexico, but also restored the name McKinley to Mount Denali, North America’s tallest peak in Alaska. The order requires all federal government maps and documents to reflect the name change.
Last weekend, while flying over the Gulf of Mexico, Mr. Trump also signed a proclamation recognizing February 9 as "American Gulf Day."
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced the geographic name change on February 10. The notice said: "Please note that the FAA is in the process of updating our data and charts to reflect the name change from Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America and Mount Denali to Mount McKinley."
The US Coast Guard, the force responsible for patrolling the nation's coastal waters, has also begun including the new Gulf of America name change in public announcements.
