The event gathered a large number of domestic and international experts, scientists and managers to update achievements, discuss trends and promote the application of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, serving socio-economic development.
Overview of the VINANST-15 Conference taking place in Khanh Hoa in 2023.
VINANST-16 is organized by VINATOM on a large scale and regional scale. The conference is a place to meet, exchange research results and new applications in the field of nuclear science and technology that are of interest to the Vietnamese scientific community, and is also a forum to discuss current issues of international nuclear science and technology and the application of atomic energy in various economic and social fields.
The conference attracted the participation of experts, scientists, managers of relevant ministries, branches, agencies, and localities; domestic universities; and delegates who are professors and experts from countries with advanced nuclear science and technology. It is expected that there will be about 80 domestic and foreign organizations with more than 400 delegates who are scientific researchers, nuclear energy application developers of science and technology, education and training organizations; managers of relevant ministries, branches, agencies, and localities nationwide, postgraduates and university students.
Through serious review by the Scientific Councils, VINANST-16 selected 206 reports, including 117 oral presentations at the specialized subcommittees and 89 posters.
The Conference program includes a plenary session and specialized subcommittees. The plenary session on October 8 will focus on advanced nuclear technologies, based on an overview of the development achievements and contributions of countries with advanced nuclear technology in the world. In addition, the reports also discuss key tasks such as: the Nuclear Science and Technology Research Center Project (CNST), the Small Modular Reactor Project (SMR); Electron beam technology and the development of accelerators for irradiation... as well as the human resource development plan and solutions to improve Vinatom's technical support capacity...
After the Plenary Session, experts and delegates will have in-depth discussions at 07 sub-committees: Reactor technology, nuclear power plant technology and safety issues of reactions and nuclear power plants; Basic nuclear physics, nuclear data, accelerator technology and related nuclear techniques; Recording of radiation and environment in Vietnam, national radiation monitoring and warning network; Application of radiation technology in social life; Application of radiation in medicine, application of radiation in industry and application of radiation in agriculture and environment; Radiochemistry and application of radiochemistry in life, ore processing technology and radioactive waste management.
Within the framework of VINANST-16, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Workshop will take place with the theme "Experience in Nuclear Power Project Management". The workshop focuses on discussing IAEA Technical Support for Member States in Building Capacity for Nuclear Power Plant Construction Project Management; Rosatom's Solutions for Large-Scale Nuclear Power Plants; Nuclear Power Project Planning and Implementation; Introduction to the Nuclear Power Program and Capacity Development in Türkiye.
VINANST-16 is an important scientific event not only for the Vietnamese atomic energy community but also has practical significance in promoting research and development of atomic energy applications in the country in the context of Vietnam actively promoting science and technology and applying atomic energy for peaceful purposes.
Since 1996, with the permission of the Ministry of Science and Technology, VINATOM has successfully organized the National Nuclear Science and Technology Conference 15 times. VINANST-16 has special significance as it took place in the context of Vietnam's decision to restart the nuclear power development program, and at the same time issued many important policies and legal documents to promote the application of atomic energy in socio-economic fields.
