Two families sue US railway company

According to CBS, the two children who died in the incident in April 2023 were Ah'Yir Womack (12 years old) and Jahaad Atkinson (9 years old). Lawyers for the two families said they believe the reason the two children were able to enter the tracks was because of a gap in a nearby fence. This gap had existed for many years and was used as a shortcut to a playground. The plaintiffs accused Amtrak of failing to repair this fence, leading to the accident.
