Vietnam Navy participates in friendship parade in Malaysia

On August 17, in George Town city (Penang state, Malaysia), the Vietnam People's Navy delegation and officers and soldiers of Ship 016 - Quang Trung participated in the street parade within the framework of the 3rd ASEAN Multilateral Naval Exercise (AMNEX 3) hosted by the Royal Malaysian Navy.

The ceremony was attended by the Governor and leaders of the Penang State Government, the Commander of the Royal Malaysian Navy and the Heads of the ASEAN Naval Delegations. Thousands of locals and tourists gathered on both sides of the road to watch the event.

The parade was attended by 23 groups, including flag bearers, sailors, bands, reservists, naval cadets and veterans from the Malaysian Navy and ASEAN countries. Local bands and schools in the area also contributed to the vibrant atmosphere with parades and performances.

The parade also featured a display of fast attack craft and helicopters from the Royal Malaysian Navy. In addition to Vietnam's 016 - Quang Trung, ASEAN navies also sent ships to participate, including RSS Vigour (Singapore), KRI Bung Tomo (Indonesia), KPD Darulaman (Brunei), UMS King Sin Phyu Shin (Myanmar), HTMS Krabi (Thailand), BRP Antonio Luna (Philippines). The host country Malaysia had three TLDM ships including KD Kedah, KD Lekiu and KD Lekir.

According to the Organizing Committee, the parade is not only a unique cultural and military activity but also has symbolic significance, reminding us of good traditional values, honoring friendship, promoting maritime cooperation, and contributing to strengthening peace and solidarity in the ASEAN community.

This is also one of a series of important events organized by the Royal Malaysian Navy from August 16-21, along with the 19th ASEAN Navy Chiefs' Meeting (ANCM) and the ASEAN Fleet Review (AFR).
