The national art photography contest and exhibition “Fatherland by the Waves” is held every two years to promote the majestic and lyrical beauty of nature and people of Vietnam's seas and islands; vividly reflecting the life, work, production and the task of preserving the sovereignty and security of the sacred seas and islands of the Fatherland.
Through three times of organization, the National Art Photography Contest and Exhibition "Fatherland on the Shore" has affirmed its identity, influence and prestige, becoming an activity of profound political and cultural significance, attracting widespread response from all walks of life.

Launched in March 2025, after only 4 months of launching, the Contest has attracted 15,770 photos from 3,514 authors from 34 provinces and cities across the country.
Along with the increase in quantity, the quality of works this year has also been significantly improved. The jury selected 150 typical works to display at the Exhibition, of which 22 best works were awarded, including: 2 First prizes, 4 Second prizes, 6 Third prizes and 10 Encouragement prizes.
The works reflect the beauty of nature and people of the sea and islands through new angles and precious moments; demonstrate the spirit of work, creativity, and aspiration of the people and their mark in protecting sovereignty, developing the economy and society, and strengthening national defense and security.

Speaking at the ceremony, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia praised and highly appreciated the results of the Contest and congratulated the authors whose excellent works were awarded; at the same time, he acknowledged and highly appreciated the departments, ministries, branches, central agencies, provincial and municipal Party Committees, press and media agencies that promoted the sense of responsibility, coordinated synchronously and effectively, and successfully organized the Contest.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia said: The world context is undergoing epochal changes, creating many opportunities, advantages and great difficulties and challenges intertwined.
Domestically, the Politburo's resolutions of strategic policy significance are being implemented, posing many new issues and higher requirements; at the same time, this is also a new turning point, a new historical opportunity for the cause of national construction, development and defense in the era of national development.

One of the key tasks is to strongly arouse the tradition of patriotism, solidarity, self-reliance, self-confidence, self-reliance, self-improvement, and national pride; promote cultural and human strength to truly become endogenous resources, driving forces, and a regulatory system for national development; combine national strength with the strength of the times, domestic strength with international strength.
In the coming time, to improve the quality and effectiveness of information and propaganda work on seas and islands, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia requested agencies and units from the central to local levels to pay attention to implementing well a number of key contents.
Including deep and comprehensive understanding of the Party's viewpoints, policies, guidelines, and the State's policies and laws on seas and islands.

Opening of the photo exhibition "Fatherland on the shore"
Continue to innovate the content and methods of information and propaganda work on seas and islands, especially foreign information, to propagate the Party and State's guidelines and policies to cadres, party members, people of all walks of life at home, overseas Vietnamese and international friends.
Focus on promoting the image of the country, culture and people of Vietnam to the world, so that culture truly becomes a "soft power" to enhance the country's position and prestige.

In particular, it is important to grasp the ideological situation and social mood, promptly detect and handle wrong viewpoints and acts of exploiting sea, island, ethnic and religious issues to sabotage the great national unity bloc and the friendly relations between Vietnam and neighboring countries, countries in the region and internationally.
Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia also expressed his belief that: From the success of the 2025 Fatherland on the Shore Art Photography Contest and Exhibition, the work of information and propaganda about seas and islands in the coming time will have more positive, creative and effective breakthroughs, with higher quality competitions, wider spread, attracting the attention and participation of a large number of artists, intellectuals and people of all walks of life in the country, overseas Vietnamese and international friends.
The Organizing Committee awarded 2 First Prizes to the authors: Nguyen Khac Hao with the photo series "Bustling anchovy season"; Nguyen Viet Hoang Long with the single photo "Under the shadow of the national flag". 4 Second Prizes were awarded to the authors: Pham Ba Tai with the work "Oath to protect the sea"; Nguyen Van Khoi with the work "Dance of the open sea"; Nguyen Minh Quang with the work "Sea cave - New tourism potential"; Nguyen Hoang Huynh with the work "Recirculating shrimp farming to adapt to climate change".
The Organizing Committee also awarded 6 Third Prizes; 10 Encouragement Prizes and Certificates of Merit from the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee to 8 provinces and cities with outstanding achievements in coordinating the implementation of the Contest.
The organizing committee also said that from the results of the 3rd "Fatherland on the Shore" Contest, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission will continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to promote the compilation of bilingual photo books, electronic photo books, virtual reality exhibitions and organize photo exhibitions in provinces and cities.
