South Korea holds summit with US and Japan

The South Korean presidential office announced on May 14 that President Yoon Suk Yeol will attend the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan, from May 19 to 21, and hold a three-way meeting with US President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishia on the sidelines of the G7 summit.

Mr. Yoon Suk Yeol attended the G7 summit as a leader of an invited country, South Korea is not a member of the G7.

The leaders will discuss cooperation against North Korea's nuclear and missile programs during the trilateral meeting, a press release from the South Korean presidential office added. President Yoon Suk Yeol will address an expanded session of the G7 summit, which will include representatives of G7 members and eight guest countries, to discuss food and energy issues.

In addition, as planned, Mr. Yoon Suk Yeol and Mr. Fumio Kishida will visit the memorial dedicated to Korean victims of the 1945 US atomic bombing of Hiroshima.
