Báo Kinh tế và Đô thịBáo Kinh tế và Đô thị13/07/2024

Rich in potential

Tay Ho District has West Lake with an area of about 526 hectares, which is considered to have beautiful natural landscapes and many traditional craft villages. Not only that, the district also has 71 historical and cultural relics that have been ranked at national and city levels. Many relics and scenic spots of Tay Ho are being included in Hanoi tours by travel companies such as Tran Quoc Pagoda, Kim Lien, Tay Ho Palace...

Not only that, Tay Ho is also famous as a locality with many flower villages that have become tourist attractions and photo spots such as West Lake Flower Valley, West Lake Creative Cultural Space with many night tourism activities. In the district, entertainment, culinary , shopping and 5-star accommodation facilities have been established, such as West Lake Water Park, Lotte Shopping Center...

Assessing the potential and advantages of tourism in Tay Ho district, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Tran Trung Hieu said that the area around West Lake with its long history has formed many traditional crafts, with a dense historical relic, along with the technical infrastructure system that the city has invested in, has contributed to increasing the value, making Tay Ho become the most prominent scenic spot of the capital.

Information from the Hanoi Department of Tourism shows that, up to now, the district has 126 accommodation establishments with 5,157 rooms, accounting for 3.4% of the total number of accommodation establishments in the city. Not stopping there, a number of investors are currently implementing 4 5-star hotel projects and 1 3-star hotel project.

In particular, in the coming time, the West Lake area will have 12 types of services allowed to operate. These include tourist boats, boats, canoes, water bikes on the lake, boating services, hot air balloons, paragliding, and water golf courses on the lake. "This is a very favorable opportunity for Tay Ho district to develop a variety of services and entertainment to complement traditional service products," Mr. Hieu emphasized.

Need strong "handshakes"

According to experts, the locality has a lot of potential for tourism development, but to do this requires the locality to "join hands" closely with businesses in the process of exploiting destinations and building tours.

Suggestions for developing West Lake tourism in the coming time Chairman of the Hanoi Unesco Association Truong Minh Tien stated that this is the only district in Hanoi that preserves lotus ponds in the heart of the city, along with many famous scenic relics recognized as city-level tourist attractions, West Lake district should expand the lotus growing area, strengthen the connection of tourist attractions associated with Hanoi lotus, thereby building a typical lotus tour.

"Giving advice" to Tay Ho tourism to improve the quality of tourism products and services, the Head of the Vietnam Green Tourism Association, Phung Quang Thang, said that compared to other districts of the capital, Tay Ho has the advantage of developing natural and cultural tourism. However, to exploit tourism, local authorities need to pay more attention to improving the green, clean and beautiful landscape environment.

According to Mr. Thang, the relics in Tay Ho district are very unique, but to become a tourism product, there must be more attractive tourism services. "Tay Ho district should plan large-scale parking lots in tourist areas and spots to serve large groups of tourists. Along with that, improve the quality of tour guides and interpreters at the spots," Mr. Thang suggested.

From the perspective of tourism businesses, Director of VietFoot Travel Company Pham Duy Nghia and other businesses have the same reflection that destinations in the district have not invested deeply in service quality. At the same time, they have not focused on building connections with tourism businesses. Therefore, attracting customers requires a close "handshake" between the destination and the business.

“To attract tourists to Tay Ho, local authorities need to call on businesses with economic potential to invest in high-quality tourism products and services to create a highlight to attract tourists,” Mr. Nghia suggested.

Similarly, Director of the Asian Tourism Development Institute Pham Hai Quynh said that Tay Ho has perfected its products and services and is closely connected with travel businesses.

“The Tay Ho district government can immediately connect households with traditional occupations, business households, areas, locations, relic management boards with travel agencies to include them in the City tour. When businesses and people benefit, unique traditional values will be protected and create leverage for tourism to develop more and more,” Mr. Quynh emphasized.

In response to the delegates' comments, Vice Chairwoman of Tay Ho District People's Committee Bui Thi Lan Phuong said that the district has developed a plan to develop culture and tourism in the area to soon realize the goal of turning Tay Ho into one of the major tourist centers of the capital.

Currently, the District is preparing a dossier to request recognition of the national intangible cultural heritage for the West Lake lotus tea brewing profession. At the same time, there is a project to expand the year-round lotus growing area to 25 hectares so that tourists coming to West Lake from January to December can enjoy the beauty of lotus flowers, and enjoy and buy lotus products.
