The workshop was attended by scientists , technical staff, representatives of management agencies and farmers directly involved in the model.
In the context of increasingly complex climate change, especially in the South Central Coast region, where the area of sandy and arid grey land is expanding rapidly, finding solutions for sustainable farming, drought adaptation and improving farmers' livelihoods is more urgent than ever.

At the workshop, experts from the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture shared technical guidance and research results on arid land environmental protection.
The pilot model deployed on two main crops, corn and mango, has brought about many positive results.
Specifically, with corn, covering with straw combined with the use of biological products helps increase dry grain yield by 16.5%, profits by 15.8%, while reducing irrigation and weeding work. Soil moisture is maintained more stable, biological activity in the soil increases significantly.
For mango, the model of intercropping with black beans, covering with straw and applying organic fertilizer helps increase productivity by 11.9%, the rate of grade 1 fruit reaches 64.1%, and profits increase by 12.2%. The soil becomes loose, retains moisture well and has a more sustainable structure.
The workshop is not only an opportunity to summarize scientific research results, but also a forum connecting scientists - managers - farmers, together finding appropriate directions to preserve land, preserve water, and maintain livelihoods for the arid land of Lam Dong .
Mr. Tran Duc Thien, Deputy Head of the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection of Lam Dong province
Many farmers participating in the model said they immediately saw the difference: the soil stayed moist longer, weeds grew less, watering was less frequent, and plants flowered and fruited more regularly. In the long run, the soil became “softer”, more porous, humus content, and beneficial microorganisms increased, helping plants grow healthy and reducing risks during the dry season.

Vice Chairman of Ham Liem Commune People's Committee Tran Van Vuong commented: This is a model of practical significance. The model has proven that if we know how to combine science and technology with local experience, arid land can still be revived.
The commune government is committed to accompanying local people and scientific units to replicate the model, not only in Ham Liem but throughout the region.
This is a way to both develop sustainable agriculture and protect land and water resources for future generations.
