The program attracted the participation of thousands of local people and students.

The program "Exchanging waste for gifts" was launched by the People's Committee of Lam Vien Ward - Da Lat in response to the Program calling on the whole population to participate in environmental protection and the movement "Saturday for a bright - green - clean - beautiful environment" launched by the Provincial People's Committee and the Communication Program "Reducing plastic waste and collecting hazardous waste" to the people.

On the first Saturday morning of the launch, the program received a great response from the local people, students and youth union members. Many students collected all kinds of waste together, participated in picking up plastic waste in the Xuan Huong Lake area and brought it back to exchange for gifts such as: books, pens, flowers, laundry detergent, hand sanitizer, etc.

The images of farmers bringing used pesticide packages to exchange for gifts, and children innocently and enthusiastically collecting used batteries and plastic bottles to the collection point to exchange for pens, drawings, flowers... have created a strong atmosphere that spreads to people and tourists.

Mr. Huynh Duc Khanh, Vice Chairman of the Ward People's Committee, called: "In order for the movement to go into depth and bring about practical results, we call on cadres, civil servants, union members, youth, households and production and business establishments in the area to join hands in collecting and classifying waste at the source. Especially waste batteries, accumulators, light bulbs, pesticide packaging, do not throw them indiscriminately into the environment, limit the use of plastic bags and disposable plastic items, replace them with environmentally friendly products".

The program of exchanging waste for gifts will be organized by the People's Committee of Lam Vien Ward - Da Lat every week in the area of Da Lat Flower Garden, with the hope of creating a familiar destination for exchanging and collecting waste for Da Lat residents and tourists every weekend. From there, raising awareness of environmental protection.

In particular, here, people can not only exchange trash for gifts but also participate in interesting interactive games to both raise awareness and knowledge about environmental protection and receive meaningful gifts.
