On the morning of September 24, Japanese Crown Prince Fumihito Akishino and Princess Kawashima Kiko visited the My Son World Cultural Heritage in Duy Phu Commune, Duy Xuyen District ( Quang Nam ).

Welcoming Japanese Crown Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko at My Son Temple Complex, Mr. Le Tri Thanh, Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee, briefly introduced the process of restoration, upgrading and protection of My Son World Cultural Heritage in recent times. The locality has received timely attention from the Vietnamese Government and valuable assistance from many countries and organizations around the world in preserving this precious heritage for future generations.

Mr. Thanh also hopes that the Japanese Government will pay attention to supporting the locality financially, with experience and techniques to help restore, prevent degradation, preserve and sustainably promote the values ​​of the My Son World Cultural Heritage.

After watching unique performances by artists and actors from the My Son World Cultural Heritage Management Board, the Crown Prince and Princess visited the temple tower area.

Crown Prince Akishino said that before coming to My Son, he had learned about the story of the formation of the temple complex and expressed his interest in visiting this place in person.

At My Son, there is currently the My Son World Cultural Heritage Museum, a project funded by the Japanese Government to display artifacts excavated from the temple complex.

Previously, on the afternoon of September 23, Japanese Crown Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko met and paid a courtesy visit to leaders of Quang Nam province and visited Hoi An ancient town.

Japanese Crown Prince Akishino said that this visit to Vietnam is of special significance, being the first official overseas visit of the Crown Prince and Princess after the Covid-19 pandemic. This is also the first visit to Vietnam by a member of the Japanese Royal Family in 6 years since the visit of the Japanese King and Queen in 2017. Japanese Crown Prince Akishino is delighted to visit Vietnam on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.
