Workshop on 50 years of innovation of Vietnamese performing arts

Attending the workshop were Associate Professor, Doctor, Musician Do Hong Quan, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations; Associate Professor, Doctor Bui Hoai Son, Standing Member of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Society ; leaders of the Department of Culture and Arts (Central Propaganda and Education Commission); People's Artist Trinh Thuy Mui, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, Chairman of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association; former leaders of the Stage Artists Association through the periods; leaders of the Department of Culture and Sports; researchers, some specialized magazines on stage, artists, actors...

People's Artist Trinh Thuy Mui, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, President of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, delivered the opening speech of the Workshop, stating: "The Workshop on 50 Years of Innovation of Vietnamese Stage Art" is the first event of the Death Anniversary of Stage Ancestor Pham Thi Tran. The Workshop "50 Years of Innovation of Vietnamese Stage Art" and Vietnam Stage Day 2025 were held in Ninh Binh , a beautiful and largest cultural center of the Northern Delta and coastal region of our country. On behalf of 2,500 members of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, People's Artist Trinh Thuy Mui expressed her gratitude to the leaders and people of Ninh Binh province for their support and creation of the best conditions for the successful organization of many national stage events in the hometown of the Stage Ancestor Pham Thi Tran.

The workshop aimed to summarize the successes, contributions as well as shortcomings and limitations of the Vietnamese Theatre in serving the cause of building and defending the Fatherland over the past 50 years, since the country's reunification, through the renovation process starting in 1986 until now, when the country is entering a new era, the era of national growth.

The presentations at the Workshop raised many practical issues of theatrical activities such as: Stage art - achievements of 50 years of development and issues raised (People's Artist Le Tien Tho); Great achievements of 50 years of traditional theater and risks ahead (Researcher Nguyen The Khoa); Vietnamese theater looks back at 50 years of innovation and development (Dr. Tran Thi Minh Thu); Current status of spoken drama theater - Challenges and opportunities (People's Artist Trung Hieu); Vietnamese theater on the new path (Director Le Quy Duong)... The authors with rich practical experience have put forward a number of ideas and solutions to overcome difficulties and promote theater development in current conditions...

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Minh Thai, Deputy Head of the Theory and Criticism Department of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, delivered the opening speech at the Workshop.

In his closing remarks at the Workshop, Dr. Nguyen Dang Chuong, Vice President of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, affirmed: The Workshop Organizing Committee highly appreciated the response, serious, scientific and effective working spirit of the delegates attending the Workshop. There were 24 papers submitted to the Workshop, and 14 authors presented papers at the Workshop.

Dr. Nguyen Dang Chuong, Vice President of Vietnam Stage Artists Association, delivered a closing speech at the Conference.

The presentations analyzed and evaluated the great contributions of theatrical arts in the cause of national construction and defense over the past 50 years; the fundamental innovations of theatrical arts over the past 50 years; the limitations and weaknesses of theatrical arts; solutions to promote the development of theatrical arts activities...

The contents and issues raised and discussed by delegates at the Workshop are important documents to help professionals and the Vietnam Stage Artists Association have a more objective and comprehensive view of the actual situation of Vietnam's stage to promote strengths, overcome limitations, and promote the development of stage activities in new social conditions and contexts.

Workshop is an activity The meaning of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association towards the celebration of Vietnam Stage Day 2025 and the death anniversary of the legendary woman Pham Thi Tran.
